We stayed in room 3143 12/8 - 12/12 and it was fantastic! Our room was situated over Downtown Disney right above the walkway into the hotel between Libby Lu and Sephora.
We had a terrific view of the fireworks from our balcony and were able to listen to the musicians who played just to the right of our room in the evenings.
Once we closed the door we could just barely hear the music. Not loud enough to disturb our sleep.
The room and balcony were clean and comfy.
As this room is one of the farthest from the lobby, our bellhop told us of a shortcut to Downtown Disney through the service stairway just a couple of steps from our door.
We never had any problem with lost or misplace luggage as some of the reviews have indicated nor was the condition of our room less than superb.
We were treated wonderfully by everyone we met.
The price is a bit steep and the hotel is mostly "non-Disney" themed but all in all, well worth it.
We would definitely book again and either ask for the same room or possibly one floor higher.
We were so busy at the parks, we never were able to find the time to use the pools so I can't comment on them but when we walked by there were just a few people using them.
In regards to the nearby restaurants:
Napa Rose - save your money. The food is definitely unusual and the wines are nice but my husband and I spent $300 for dinner. There was an office Christmas party of 10 people right next to our table and our conversation was continually interrupted by the merriment from that table and were were continually blinded by the flashes from their cameras. All in all, not worth it!
Storytellers Cafe - Excellent food, atrocious service. We ate dinner there one night at the recommendation of our "A Walk in Walt's Footsteps" tour guide, Josh. They mixed up my husbands and my steak (I like rare, he likes well). Once we had exchanged steaks, the food was delicious but EXPENSIVE. The service though was awful. Our waitress never stopped to see if we needed drink refills or how the food was.
We also ate breakfast there the next morning. Again, delicious food, awful service. You could tell that our waitress really wanted us to order the buffet (more expensive for us and less work for her and a bigger tip!). When I asked for a refill of my daughters orange juice, you could tell that she was extremely put out. She pointed out to me that I would need to pay for the refill. As I was paying $17.99 for a Waffle you would think that I would be able to afford another orange juice. The waitress was obviously unable to keep up with the demands of her job.
One place I would highly recommend is Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel. Awesome everything! Our server, David, was incredible and the food was simply to die for. I had the prime rib with was served with real au jus! No bullion! OMG! It was heavenly! Okay, expensive but worth every penny. I can't find the words to describe how wonderful everything was. How I wish I wouldn't have wasted my money at Napa Rose and went here twice! Our family of 4 adults ate here for $180 including the tip and a cocktail.
All in all a wonderful stay!
