We stayed in room 3143 12/8 - 12/12 and it was fantastic! Our room was situated over Downtown Disney right above the walkway into the hotel between Libby Lu and Sephora.

We had a terrific view of the fireworks from our balcony and were able to listen to the musicians who played just to the right of our room in the evenings.

Once we closed the door we could just barely hear the music. Not loud enough to disturb our sleep.

The room and balcony were clean and comfy.

As this room is one of the farthest from the lobby, our bellhop told us of a shortcut to Downtown Disney through the service stairway just a couple of steps from our door.

We never had any problem with lost or misplace luggage as some of the reviews have indicated nor was the condition of our room less than superb.

We were treated wonderfully by everyone we met.

The price is a bit steep and the hotel is mostly "non-Disney" themed but all in all, well worth it.

We would definitely book again and either ask for the same room or possibly one floor higher.

We were so busy at the parks, we never were able to find the time to use the pools so I can't comment on them but when we walked by there were just a few people using them.

In regards to the nearby restaurants:

Napa Rose - save your money. The food is definitely unusual and the wines are nice but my husband and I spent $300 for dinner. There was an office Christmas party of 10 people right next to our table and our conversation was continually interrupted by the merriment from that table and were were continually blinded by the flashes from their cameras. All in all, not worth it!

Storytellers Cafe - Excellent food, atrocious service. We ate dinner there one night at the recommendation of our "A Walk in Walt's Footsteps" tour guide, Josh. They mixed up my husbands and my steak (I like rare, he likes well). Once we had exchanged steaks, the food was delicious but EXPENSIVE. The service though was awful. Our waitress never stopped to see if we needed drink refills or how the food was.

We also ate breakfast there the next morning. Again, delicious food, awful service. You could tell that our waitress really wanted us to order the buffet (more expensive for us and less work for her and a bigger tip!). When I asked for a refill of my daughters orange juice, you could tell that she was extremely put out. She pointed out to me that I would need to pay for the refill. As I was paying $17.99 for a Waffle you would think that I would be able to afford another orange juice. The waitress was obviously unable to keep up with the demands of her job.

One place I would highly recommend is Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel. Awesome everything! Our server, David, was incredible and the food was simply to die for. I had the prime rib with was served with real au jus! No bullion! OMG! It was heavenly! Okay, expensive but worth every penny. I can't find the words to describe how wonderful everything was. How I wish I wouldn't have wasted my money at Napa Rose and went here twice! Our family of 4 adults ate here for $180 including the tip and a cocktail.

All in all a wonderful stay!

Sooo expensive. But our two day stay over Thanksgiving weekend was worth the extra money.

We travel a lot for business and fun. These rooms are wonderful. Nothing fancy or magical, but the beds are awesome. Just what you need after a day at the park. Feather pillows, comforters and firm matresses. Our bad backs were in heaven.

We booked the Downtown Disney view and, based on this website, realized too late that it was loud. I called in advance to negotiate a quieter room and they upgraded us to the pool view at no charge to accommodate our request for quiet. Very nice.

Having gone to DLand over Thanksgiving, we knew that it would be crowded. The location of this hotel allowed us to get into the park early one morning and at the opening of the park to ''everyone'' on the other day. This allowed us to get on all the rides before the rest of the crowd arrived. We retreated to the hotel during the packed afternoon and then revisited for fireworks and more rides in the evening.

The atmosphere of the GC was so calm. No characters running around. They have a bar there which allows you to take drinks to your room. The lights over the beds dim so the little ones can sleep while you and your spouse decompress. All good.

If you can afford the $$$ (and they are adding on to the hotel, so many must be able to do so), stay here. It will make your stay a happy one, not a stressful one.

I stayed at the Grand Californian from November 16 - 21 with my partner. This was the best Disney Hotel we have ever stayed in. Our room had a view of Downtown Disney and the Courtyard. Our room featured a king bed and because we were in a corner room, there was more space. The quality of the decor, toiletries, furniture and staff made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable. We looked forward to coming back to the room after being in the parks. Used the pool are and again made the entire stay a quality one. If you can swing it, stay here.

We stayed at the Grand California for only $249 as our friend lives in So. Calif and was able to book the room using her Disney season pass. We ended up purchasing season passes and asked about rates for upcoming spring break, and they are well over $400, so we decided not to go back due to price.

The hotel is beautiful. Two large pools and a hottub with a ton of lounge chairs. The distance to downtown disney and the parks is crucial if you need to be close or have small children who cannot walk very far.

The rooms were nicely furnished but small. We had a double bed room, double vanity area, toilet/tub were separate. The shower curtain had bambi on it in a forest print. The toiletries were spa quality. We unfortunately had a downtown disney view (do NOT select if you want to sleep). While the view was nice, we were just above the electric piano guy's show, (synthesized LOUD music) that he didn't turn off until at least 10pm. You might think that is early, but after a long day at the theme parks we just wanted to go to bed.

The lobby is absolutely huge and beautiful. The gift shops had some really nice things. We didn't eat here at all, instead opting for the bakery on the corner just before the bag checks into the park.

Parking was a little ways off. The valet guys and bellhops were excellent.

I would go back if I could get a deal but in my opinion, not worth $400 for the size of the room/amenities, especially if you are staying for the week.

Very nice place. Everything is beautiful, the service is good, the rooms fine, etc.

We were however a bit disappointed that there just wasn't anything that really stood out as magical.

We stayed one night and will come back to really check things out as our stay was too short to decide to not come back. For the price and this being Disney we expected more, and have yet to get it.
