“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2014

Just back from California and Disneyland. We stayed at the Grand Californian and it was just as expected. The hotel and grounds were amazing. Very similar in colors and style as Disneys wilderness lodge in Florida. The location is amazing and service was top notch. If we make it back to SoCal we will be staying here again.

Everyone was pretty friendly & helpful. Front desk girl definitely following the script (training?). Proximity to DD,DL & DCA was the best. Saw World of Color from 6 floor balcony. Remembered my daughter's birthday upon arrival :)!!! Turn down service with chocolate ( thumbs up)! Room a little small for price. Pool should have been a touch warmer. Toilet too loud and seat loose. Water in shower hard to adjust. Room service good but expensive. TV never worked even after "repair" :(! And we had a glitch that denied us our 4th day on a 4 day park hopper (issue was resolved fairly quickly). But I'll be back because we love to be in the middle of it all.

I've traveled to 49 of the 50 states as well as two parts of south America and Europe. I have not experienced this high quality and superior class of amenity. In my five decades of travel I have never come across the level of service and sheer grandeur of a hotel than could hold a candle to the Grand.
Plus you have your own entrance to California Adventure park and Downtown Disney!!!!

One caveat-the kids of others. People that have the $$$ to stay at such an lush destination seem to forget that there are others that have paid just as much as they have paid and deserve the respect of peace and quiet between the hours of 11p-8a. Luckily, a call to the front desk staff usually solves the screaming/running/banging/bed jumping quite efficiently!!!

Disney staff are the best and this hotel is A-MAZING!!!

When you stay at Disney, stay at the Grand Californian! Complete acces to the park, clean quiet and very comfortable. Wetook advantage of the consierge level, and completely avoided the extra cost of food at the park. Magic mornings allowed early entrance into the park, and we could go back to our room and relax without taking a huge amount of time away from the parks themselves. Completely worth the cost especially if you are traveling with children or grandparents! When staying here it is like it's own oasis between the parks to relax and rejuvinate. Also take advantage of the spa, amazing pedicure to heal aching feet! Will be back again soon.

Room Tip: Consierge level rooms

We stayed here for 4 days and had a great time. Service was excellent. We initially were in a room with 2 queen beds but since we had 3 adults and 2 kids, we requested one with a daybed and they moved us to one within minutes. The staff was very helpful. We had 2 small kids with us during this trip, a 2 yr old and a 5 yr old. They needed naps in the afternoon so we just walked back to the hotel to rest and nap. This really helped us enjoy our trip since we did not have cranky kids in the evening. We were able to watch the fireworks on one night and the World of Color on another night. The hotel even gave us a deal on the park hopper tickets which are really the best thing to buy when you are visiting Disneyland on multiple days. The pool was a bit full on the days we went but that is to be expected during the summer. The hotel has a rooftop where you can watch the World of Color although you can't really hear much of the audio but even then it was great! Only minor issue was the wi-fi in our room was not working well. We actually had to sit outside our room to be able to connect. There are movies for kids in the evening. You have the privilege of entering one theme park (whichever they choose for the day) an hour before everyone else. This is really helpful when you want to get a Fast pass or line up for an event like seeing the Princesses from Frozen. Would definitely stay here again when given the chance!

Room Tip: request a room above the 5th floor on the side facing California adventure so you can watch the Worl...

Waitstaff at pool never ask if you need anything. They just chitchat with each other. Need to order food & drinks??forgetaboutit!!!! They should try to meet guest needs & sell rather than wait for us to try and find them. Reflected in tips

We stayed here for a long weekend in July of 2014. The hotel is beautiful and well maintained. Our check-in went quickly and we were guided to our room. We were on the second floor with a pool view room. The room is well appointed with a refrigerator, 42" flat screen television and DVD player. The bed was very firm but comfortable. The bathroom area was divided into two parts; one with the bathtub/shower and toilet, the other, the sink/vanity area. It was nicely arranged and had accessories included that you would expect from a higher end hotel. The room was very quiet. We were not disturbed at all during our stay. Once we were in the hallway we could hear our neighbors but not while in the room. The staff is very courteous and the elevators were quickly available. The only downside to the whole experience was the Internet connection. Our phones would not connect consistently and each time we tried to connect on our laptop we had to go through the Disney Terms and Agreement page. This occurred sometimes when we were already online surfing indicating that we had lost our connection and had to go through the whole process to get back online again. It's not a huge problem but it was bothersome. On the plus side the Wi-Fi was free and we weren't charged per device. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property to anyone. Be advised it isn't cheap!! But it is very nice!!!
