“Great out of Season but...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

Spent 2 nights here in May with my brother on the way back from a business trip to Australia and New Zealand, staying in a concierge level theme park view room, as such for a hotel on Disney property the rate was (for Disney anyway) pretty reasonable (c. $300 per night exc. taxes, resort fees etc.).
The room wa actually really nice, well appointed with good modern facilities, and the view of the California Adventure theme park superb, especially at night. Didn't actually eat at any of the hotel's restaurants but the bars were nice and most of the staff were as you would expect from Disney, very friendly, polite, courteous etc.
So why very good and not excellent, firstly it's not about price (as you expect it when staying at a Disney Hotel), valet parkers were quite frankly awful - left our bags in the back of the car with the trunk open for 20 minutes (ended up having to get them myself even though had said "yes" when asked if I wanted them taken to our room) we're just sat around talking, the pool area is tiny - fine out of season when we were there but during the summer you'd have to be at the pool by about 7am to get a lounger, and, it's quite a long walk from Disneyland - c. 15 minutes (although you can cut through The Grand Californian to get the California Adventure Park) so make sure you've got comfortable shoes on!
Essentially I'd sum up this hotel as "Disney on a Budget", you do get great rooms and the whole Disney experience but next time I'd probably spend a bit more and either stay at The Disneyland Hotel or The Grand Californian.

Room Tip: Go for a theme park view room as you can watch "World of Colour" from there and it's a...

Pleasantly surprised with the hotel and room. Nothing fancy for sure, but everything was clean and modern. We had a view of the pool and parking lot, but since we spent all our time in the park, we didn't care.

Room Tip: I'm sure a park view room is wonderful, but it's also extra $$. It's what you are willi...

First of all, the bad reviews from people, they are liars. We spent 2 nights their, and being part of the Hotel industry, my expectations are alot higher than most people. We were not able to get our room when we checked in, which was fine we showed up a bit early, but they went ahead and checked us in, and mentioned to us that they will send us a text message when the room was ready

NOTE: IT IS WORTH THE MONEY FOR THE CONCIERGES LEVEL!!!!

so with the note above, after we checked into our reservation, they mentioned we can stop by the concierge room, and get snacks, since the front desk agent went ahead and called up for us.

Upon checking into the room, i needed to get a quick shower, i did notice a hair in the tub, but did not make a stink about it. I called housekeeping, and within 10mins, a housekeeper showed up, and fully cleaned the entire bathroom again. Now thats what i call service, even if it was in the tub.

Yes the Elevators where busy during the day, but for the people who complain on Trip Advisor about the elevators..... They are just impatient. the most i had to wait for a elevator was maybe 3mins.

Overall the room was great and updated, and the Cast Members where amazing. I would totally Return to this hotel again without hesiation.

Room Tip: Ask for Third floor, Rm.309 you are right next to the pool, and it has its own patio. Also the upgra...

Just returned from a great weekend at the Paradise Pier and couldn't have been more pleased! Every single "cast member" from the valet, front desk, guest services and housekeepers were as pleasant and helpful as can be. We never made a request or asked a question that wasn't answered with a smile. We had a room on the 13th floor..yes there was a 13th floor, with a park view and were able to watch the World of Color show each night from our room, tuning in the music on our TV. Our room was clean and comfortable, we loved the turn-down service and little chocolates left each night. We didn't mention that we were celebrating a birthday when we made the reservation, but my sister mentioned this to the desk when we checked rice krispie Mickey Mouse treats in our room that night.

We did splurge on the concierge level and really enjoyed stopping in the club room for a water bottle or a cold drink and snack...and great coffee! Again we were always greeted with a smile and hello.

We didn't find the walk to either park daunting, although we didn't have children with us. We took the monorail from Downtown Disney to Disneyland and it was a short walk across the street to California Adventure through the California Grand.

I did read some of the comments about waiting for elevators, but when you consider that most of the guest are heading down to the parks in the morning and back to their rooms in the evenings you just have to expect that you may need to wait for elevators...it didn't spoil are trip by any means.

We had dinner in the PCH Grill and found the food to be great as well as the service, It may be a little more pricey than something outside the resort, but really that's to be expected when staying in a resort property or eating in most hotel restaurants.

We did walk through both the California Grand and the Disneyland Grand hotels while there and found that we preferred the Paradise Pier just for the size of the crowds. Paradise Pier may be smaller, but so are the crowds in the hotel and pool areas.

We loved the early entry 'Magic Hour' we received with our trip and made good use of it! I highly recommend this. We managed to hit all of the MUST DO rides by 10am Saturday morning at Disneyland and then got Fast Passes for the few we decided to ride later. We also loved that we could watch the fireworks from the 3rd floor pool area, the music is piped in if you just don't have the energy to get back to the park you don't miss a thing.

I can't say enough about the Paradise Pier, we loved it and will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Concierge Service is a great plus.

Stayed there mid-week with two children under the age of 4. Upgraded to a view room which was definitely worth the $. See pic. Walk to parks was short and the private entrance into California Adventure saved us lots of time. The room was old but adequate for our needs. Staff was friendly and my kids LOVED the character breakfast in the hotel.

Room Tip: Upgrade to view room to watch the World of Color show with audio through the TV.

Stayed here in 2 adjoining rooms with son/wife and 2 grandsons under age 6. Rooms were dirty, old, not updated at all, the hallway and rooms smelled like rotten eggs or worse, the elevators were almost unusable...need more elevators. On the last morning our daughter-in-law on crutches due to recent surgery (they charge $10 a day for a wheelchair), had to walk down 5 flights of stairs with her crutches with the rest of us carrying little children, strollers, etc just to get them to the van to get to the airport. Staff could care less especially the front desk manager who just was concerned that he was going to have his breakfast with long check-out lines and 2 less employees out sick...he could care less. Terrible hotel. Avoid at all costs and it will cost you there. Disney for dollars only, it appears.

Room Tip: go elsewhere

We had a nice stay at the Paradise Pier Hotel. We were surprised with a park view suite upgrade to room 622. The walk seems far to the park at first; however, the reality is that the walk and wait to the tram if longer. The elevators were the biggest challenge in the morning... People were getting upset waiting for them. The trick ... Press the up bottom jump on go for a short ride and what goes up must come down. Worked great every time! Clean and great service...
