“Great location, OK room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

Stayed there mid-week with two children under the age of 4. Upgraded to a view room which was definitely worth the $. See pic. Walk to parks was short and the private entrance into California Adventure saved us lots of time. The room was old but adequate for our needs. Staff was friendly and my kids LOVED the character breakfast in the hotel.

Room Tip: Upgrade to view room to watch the World of Color show with audio through the TV.

Stayed here in 2 adjoining rooms with son/wife and 2 grandsons under age 6. Rooms were dirty, old, not updated at all, the hallway and rooms smelled like rotten eggs or worse, the elevators were almost unusable...need more elevators. On the last morning our daughter-in-law on crutches due to recent surgery (they charge $10 a day for a wheelchair), had to walk down 5 flights of stairs with her crutches with the rest of us carrying little children, strollers, etc just to get them to the van to get to the airport. Staff could care less especially the front desk manager who just was concerned that he was going to have his breakfast with long check-out lines and 2 less employees out sick...he could care less. Terrible hotel. Avoid at all costs and it will cost you there. Disney for dollars only, it appears.

Room Tip: go elsewhere

We had a nice stay at the Paradise Pier Hotel. We were surprised with a park view suite upgrade to room 622. The walk seems far to the park at first; however, the reality is that the walk and wait to the tram if longer. The elevators were the biggest challenge in the morning... People were getting upset waiting for them. The trick ... Press the up bottom jump on go for a short ride and what goes up must come down. Worked great every time! Clean and great service...

Good price for the breakfast with Mickey and early admission into the parks. The pool with the slide keep the kids happy. The food was expensive, you pay for the company and variety. The beds were comfortable and the staff helpful enough.

I wasn't expecting a lot when we made this reservation. We had wanted the Disneyland Hotel, but we also knew we wanted Concierge Level service and it wasn't available at the Disneyland Hotel, so we settled for the Paradise Pier. And I was left very happy and can see myself coming back next time we visit. The staff were very friendly (aside from the aloof lifeguards, but I will give them a break considering how boring their job must be), the rooms were spotless, everything was great. Yes, the decor is dated and you can see the years on the building, but it never felt dirty or run down. The Concierge Lounge was terrific. We were travelling with 3 small kids and they loved going in there with the big TV playing Disney cartoons so they could eat a nice breakfast and watch a little Disney magic before heading to the parks. It was so nice being able to grab some water for the trip to the park, as well as come back and have a few drinks. It is definitely a splurge that if you can afford, you need to take. We even had 2 of our dinners there. Nothing fancy, by any means, but when you are so tired from a day at the parks, anything quick is appreciated. Plus the quality of the hot food was surprisingly high. Don't expect high quality dining. Just know that it is food, good food, but not really a meal unless you are dead tired.

It is a short walk across the street to the Grand Californian where, depending on where you want to go, you can cut to Downtown Disney and then to Disneyland entrance, or directly into California Adventure. Yes, it is still a long walk, but when you are going to Disneyland, you know you are walking a lot. If you complain about distances, you are simply not prepared to go to Disneyland. So that being said, it is a relatively short walk to either park.

We didn't eat in the hotel, other than in the Conciere Lounge (oh, and the staff in the conciere lounge are first rate all the way. Didn't meet a single one who wasn't smiling, who didn't interact with our kids in some way and just plain make us feel welcome), so I can't comment on that, nor the parking. However, the pool did have a 2-story slide that my kids loved. The pool was nice, too. It is small, but cozy. My oldest boy is still talking about the slide, 6 days after leaving the hotel, and after 3 days of riding Disneyland and California Adventure rides. Yes, he is just 5, but still shows you how much he loved it.

All in all, a great trip. We would probably like to see the Disneyland Hotel next time, but we would certainly take the Paradise Pier in a pinch if required.

This was the first Disney hotel that I ever stayed at and it was a really great experience. We stayed in a Club level Cabana room, something I would suggest if you want to enjoy a pool level room with access to the Club room (more below).

The Cabana room features a walk-out "balcony" that's really just a deck because you can walk right from it to the pool area. This was a nice perk.

The rooms here are great. We had two queen. They leave you Disney chocolates each day they clean your room and the beach ball pillows are fun. The room was clean and spacious (more so than the Grand Californian in my opinion). The service from the Castmembers was great, they delivered promptly even when we arrived earlier than our check-in time. They will hold bags for you before check-in and after as well. It helps you enjoy the Parks without worrying about what may happen to your stuff.

Another nice thing about these Disney hotels, take advantage of the free room delivery. If you buy something in the parks, have the cashier send the item to your hotel room. It's free and it saves you the hassle of carrying it around all day.

The walk to the Parks isn't that bad and you can always cut through the Grand Californian for access to California Adventure Park (the private entrance is for any Disney Hotel guests) or take the monorail into Disneyland Park. Plus access to Downton Disney (my new name for Downtown Disney) is like a 2 min walk.

The club room at this place is great. They basically only serve finger foods for each meal but it's enough. Breakfast they had fruit, milk, juice, and that wonderful Disney Hot Chocolate. They also had toast and bagels. Lunch was mostly bar snacks and Uncrustables by Smuckers. These are the best things to put into your packs and eat as a snack later. Very filling and you can take as many as you'd like. They also offer sodas all day for the taking and water bottles. At dinner, they switched it up each night. Sometimes it would be a cheese and fruit platter, sometimes small meats. They would also have wine as well. Plus the concierges service here was very helpful and very fast.

All-in-all I can say that my stay here was great. Plus you'll pay way less than you would for the Disneyland Hotel or Grand Californian Hotel. It still has all the Disney magic you expect but at a lower price.

Room Tip: Rooms here are based mostly on what kind of view you want, a theme park view of DCA Park is awesome...

This is my Hotel of choice when I stay at Disneyland, only because it's the most affordable of the (3) Disney property Hotels. It wouldn't be my first choice for luxury and amenities, but due to the high price of the other two Hotels on the Disney property, this is the best value (if you call $256/night a good value "choke, wheez"...hehehe.
The only concern that I'm seeing more lately is the cost of everything else. I think $139 for the Character Breakfast for 2 Adults and 2 Children is simply INSANE! There are many places in the world where $139 would be more than a month's salary! It's just a crime to charge this much and therefore I downgraded my rating to 3 Stars compared to 4 stars previously. I realize that this is children's dream of a lifetime, but they take the availability of this Breakfast out of the reach of many families and I just think it's wrong. It will take us several months to recover from the cost of staying at this Hotel.

Otherwise, clean comfortable rooms, super comfy beds and friendly staff as usual.

Room Tip: DO NOT pay for the Garden view rooms. Just order a Standard room, but then ask for a view of the po...
