“Fantastic view from room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

Recently stayed for three nights at Paradise Pier Hotel a fun treat for my grand-daughters 6th birthday. We flew down from Seattle on Monday 4th March into sunny weather, although did go cold in the evenings. The staff at the hotel were all friendly and accommodating especially guest services. The room we stayed overlooked California Adventure Park so we could watch the spectacular wold of colour show from our window. Beds really comfortable and room ceaned every day. We did the character breakfast one day in the restaurant downstairs, the food was not great, but there were plenty of characters which my grand-daughter loved meeting. The only downside whilst we were there was the pool being closed due to renovation, but we were told that we could use the pool at the Disneyland Hotel and that there were changing rooms and showers. First we had problems getting into the pool area, then when we needed to shower and change we were told there was only an outside shower and we would have to use the restrooms to dress = not good! So if you book to go to the Paradise Pier Hotel make sure the pool area is open for use. Apart from that we had a great time and would recommend this hotel for the very friendly staff.

Room Tip: Higher floor and overlooking California Adventure Park are the best

We recently did the Disneyland Anaheim, CA thing – we had some tax refund money to spend and needed to do our part to help stimulate the economy (someone has to do it, right?) so we splurged and went to Disneyland in Anaheim. Since we live in Northern California it was a short flight on Southwest and I will be posting a separate review on the airport transfers but this review is regarding the upgrade from a ‘standard room’ to a ‘Concierge Room’ at the Paradise Pier which is one of the three Disney resorts in Anaheim. When booking rooms at any of the Disney Resorts, you have lots of options. Standard Room, Park View Room, Concierge Room, Concierge Park View Room, Suite Park View Room and like any of the rooms at the resorts, they are probably all great rooms but what you pay for is the service level AND view. We chose a ‘Concierge’ room which is a step up from their standard room but we did not do the Concierge Park View room (there were no view rooms available during our stay). A quick comment about the room (I am sure all the rooms are very similar but it is all about location, location, location when you are at Disneyland). Our room was nice, clean, had a king bed, a flat screen TV, nice bathroom with tub, extra crib and bedding in the closet (we didn’t need a crib but it is in all the rooms - these guys think of all the details for a family resort) and most importantly, a small fridge (bring in the food and drink and save the money to spend elsewhere). So on to the Concierge level room – most of these rooms are high in the tower – 14th floor for us and if you can get one of the view rooms, you will overlook California Adventure Park, looking towards to large Ferris wheel. Our view was of the parking lot behind the hotel and pool area which was under renovation while we were there. With the concierge level room you get a special room on the 2nd floor with a concierge person to help you with things (they don’t accept tips) and you get continental breakfast in the morning (till 10am), snacks during the day, beer and wine and Hors d'oeuvre from 5pm to 7pm and then sweet treats until 8pm oh and unlimited sodas and juice all day long! The breakfast was very basic, fruit, muffins, cheeses, cereals, coffee, tea, juice & milk but it was great for us (you can feed a family on muffins and cereals before you head to the park) The snacks during the day were mostly chips, cookies and some fresh fruit but the happy hour was nice, beer, wine, some type of hot Hors d'oeuvre more fruit and sodas. Since we were not there to spend every waking hour in the park, the concierge room was a nice place to go and unwind a little. They even let us stay in the room for a couple of extra hours after we had checked out and were waiting for our transfer back to the airport. But now for the cost, we were there a Friday, Saturday and Sunday and paid about $320 (so about $100 per day) to have this room available – I am told that if we could have gotten a park view room, it would have been about $500 more. Since it was only two of use, that is $50 each per day but we felt it was worth it for us, we like the extra attention and the ability to grab a snack or soda without having to go to the lobby store. If you have a large family and can subsist on cereal and muffins for breakfast, it would be well worth it and the wine and beer for mom & dad after a wild day in the parks???? Sounds good to me. One last hint, if you do book the concierge level room, skip the main check-in line in the lobby and go straight to the concierge room on the 2nd floor (you will have to knock on the door) you can check in there with a soda and snack in hand oh and don't forget, Disney Resorts get early admission to the park on certain days.

Room Tip: 14th floor rooms on the concierge level - but expensive to face towards the park.

We recently became Disneyland Annual Passholders and to celebrate we thought we would stay a night in one of the Disney owned, on site hotels. Paradise Pier being the least expensive, its the one we choose.

The room is very comfortable, well appointed and very clean. The beds and linens are comfortable and the bathroom is nice.

We went to the first room we were given, on the third floor, but there is no view at all from there. We asked for an upgrade (at an additional cost of course) and went up to a higher floor where we had a stunning view of Disney's California Adventure. It was well worth the upgrade price.

We did the character breakfast at the downstairs restaurant and while it was fun for a one time thing, I wouldn't do it again. The food was pretty average but the price isn't.

The staff at the hotel were wonderfully helpful at all times, something we've found pretty much across the board inside the park as well. Disney pretty much does things right!

Room Tip: The higher the better! Don't flinch at the extra cost for a park view room. They are amazing!

Recently stayed at Disney's Paradise Pier and could not have been more impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel rooms and common areas. I know it's Disney and love their high standards but I felt as if I was at home within this resort. All of the Staff that I came in contact with were lovely and accommodating. Very much enjoyed my entire stay!

Room Tip: There is some nighttime noise from California Adventure that may disturb light sleepers. Nothing tha...

Even though this is the cheapest of the three Disney hotels, it doesn't disappoint. The DIsney smiles start at check-in and don't stop. We paid a bit extra for a 'park view' room and it was well worth it - being able to watch the California Adventure Park in action from your room before and after going there. The 'Magic Morning' is great, getting access to the best rides an hour before the parks open to the public. Plus, you have private entrance to California Adventure, so you bypass the queues. The rooms are impeccably clean, and the beds are more comfortable than home. There is plenty of space and the little Disney touches add to the fun. Would return there in a flash.

Room Tip: 'Park View' rooms are worth the extra cost - the other side of the building looks over the e...

You say "Paradise Pier Hotel" to people and they reply "Huh?". Everyone thinks that the Disneyland Hotel is the place to be, well it is, but if room rates are too high or booked up, look into this hidden gem.
The hotel is "Disney Clean", the staff is "Disney Friendly", and the location is "Disney Awesome"! Believe it or not, this hotel is closer to the parks than the Disneyland Hotel. I went there for a birthday weekend trip, even though I live 5 miles from the resort, and had a great time. The pool area is small, but I only spent one short afternoon out there. It had a fun waterslide, and is actually elevated, on the third floor.
I really enjoyed the PCH Grill inside the hotel. It has very affordable prices compared to other Disney table service restaurants. There is also a very slow paced, casual, uncrowded lounge. A great place for the adults to unwind and relax.
We had a room on the seventh floor which overlooked Disney's California Adventure. A great room. You have to request that side of the building though, (the east-facing), otherwise you get a view of the parking structure and the Simba Parking Lot to the west.
The Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian Hotel, and Downtown Disney are all within walking distance. Downtown Disney has a Monorail Station that lets you into Disneyland. The Grand Californian has a walking entrance for hotel guests into California Adventure.
The hotel was nice, not over the top Disney either. We had a great time, and will be back for sure.
My BEST RECOMMENDATION is to have BREAKFAST AT THE PCH GRILL. It is a breakfast buffet, and is a Character Breakfast called Surf's Up with Mickey and Friends. The classic characters come out in their beach attire. There is Lifeguard Mickey, Surfer Goofy, Beachbum Donald, Sunbather Minnie and Daisy, and Hula Stitch. They have interactive times with the kids where they show them to hula hoop, do the swim dance, and surf lessons on cute little carpets for the kids to stand on. Also, this is the LEAST CROWDED CHARACTER DINING EXPERIENCE AT DISNEYLAND. I had moments where Mickey was just waiting for someone to come up to him, so my daughter did, and Mickey sat down and held my daugher in his lap for about 10 minutes. I took so many great pictures. Later, Stich was bored, so he took my daughter by the hand, brought her over to the hula hoops, and started playing with her, with no other kids clammoring for attention. It was awesome. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Ask for an "east-facing" room.

After a long flight from Perth Western Australia my wife, two children (ages 4 and 11) and I wished for a seamless check in and a comfortable bed in which to relax.

We arrived to the Paradise Pier at around 10.30am and although there were only a few couples checking in, it seemed to take a while as there was a lot of questions being asked by those checking in. Never mind, after a 15 minute wait was served and the check in lady was wonderful, very efficient and helpful. Unfortunately the pool was out of action for refurbishment, I was a little upset over this as nothing was mentioned when booking and even on the day of check in nothing was posted on website.

We were allowed to use the Disneyland hotel pool but this is a 5 - 10 walk, plus crossing a road and walking through a carpark. Not my idea of a good compromise!

Fortunately they saw I was upset and upgraded us to a high floor theme park view to compensate.

The room was very spacious, plenty of room for our family of 4, with an amazing view of DCA and World of Colour. Housekeeping were excellent and other than check in, we could not fault our stay.

The only thing is, in photos of the Grand Californian Hotel, i thought it didnt look worthy of its price tag, walking through it every morning to get to Disneyland though, I began to appreciate the quality of this property and as money was not an object, wished I'd have booked it instead of the Paradise Pier.

None the less though, had an amazing 4 nights and wouldnt hesitate recommending the property
