“Good Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2011

I stayed at my Mom's timeshare at the Dolphin Cove Resort. Though I'm leary of the timeshare concept in general, I've been happy with the places we have stayed, including this one. They do pay attention to their business. The Dolphin has great location close to Disney. You can take the free shuttle from the "Toy Story" Disney parking lot, which is only a big empty lot away from the DCR. (You are technically not supposed to do this judging by the "no access to Harbor Blvd" signs near the shuttle when leaving Disney), but we were greeted warmly by Disney employees when we were obviously entering from the sidewalk, so it seems generally ok as of this writing - there were very few people doing this while we were there). Our room was clean and nice and felt like it was recently updated. The grounds are lush and beautiful. The pool was clean and big enough, unlike many hotel pools that more resemble oversize bathtubs (though the stairs into the pool are strangely slippery - use that rail). Target is within walking (No rental car in LA - it can be done!) distance and has basic grocerys including produce. I also walked to Vons, but that was pretty far, and the store is right out of 1972. Pay extra attention walking in Anaheim - you are not in Kansas anymore; this pertains to the locals as well as their cars. Coffee and the USA Today were free in the lobby, and most welcome. Person at the desk turned me on to getting a Star Tours fast pass ASP on entering the park as they run out. We used the tip (our friends missed out). Nice to have them paying attention - it's not always the case. The free Wi-Fi worked great for us, and we needed it.

We stayed in 513 facing the parking lot. You can see the Tower of Terror clearly. We enjoyed the Disney fireworks from our balcony as well as the "Dance of the Swifts" - not as good as the "World of Color", but fun ;) Most rooms on the property don't have this view. it was not too noisy. The noisyest thing about this resort was the air conditioners, lol.

The return cab trip to Long Beach Airport was a $50 flat rate through DCR, which was a lot less that the $65 we paid from the airport with a driver who had not the foggiest idea where we were going. I think I might try to set up a pickup in advance the next time if possible, and try to save that $15 bucks for Sundaes on Main Street.

It's not the Four Season's, but for a straightforward place close to disney with a good pool I liked it a lot. I would stay here again.

We had room #402 which was a one bedroom unit on the ground floor. The carpet had stains on it and was torn in the living room/dining room area. The bathroom was only
6' x 6' (really small).
There is only one a/c unit and it is located in the living room. There are ceiling fans in all the rooms though.
The was no washer or dryer in the unit. You had to goto a central location where they washer and dryers that you could use.

The rest of the resort was alright though. It is located about 1/4 of a mile away from the entrance to Disneyland.

Dolphin's Cove Resort is a nice enough place to stay for a week, but truth be told, we've had nicer timeshare exchanges through RCI. For someone reading this review, I don't intend for that to come across as a negative. It's just that the main draw for choosing this place was its close proximity to Disneyland/California Adventure--which was only a 20-25 minute walk (about a mile away) for me, my wife and 2 kids (ages 9 and 5).

The resort itself was nice but nothing exceptional. We certainly didn't experience any of the horror stories that some others have posted in their reviews, but then again, it didn't have any "Oh wow" factor going for it, either. It was just...adequate. The grounds were neat and well-maintained, we liked the covered carport parking (see pictures), and the room size--although not spacious--was large enough for our family of 2 adults and 2 children.

We had a 2 bedroom unit and a minor drawback was that it had only 1 bathroom. There was only an AC unit in the living room...not the bedrooms...but at night the temps outside were in the 65-70 degree range so using the ceiling fans in the bedrooms worked out fine. And I'm the first one to complain when it's too hot inside--but I was fine.

There was free wireless internet available in the units and it worked fine for the most part; there were a few instances when I was getting a weak signal and had trouble connecting to websites. The pool was a simple rectangular shape and during the afternoons it was completely exposed to the sun--only in the late afternoon and early evening could we enjoy it without baking in the sun.

The front desk staff was very helpful when it came to printing out park tickets that we purchased online (Disney and Knott's Berry Farm). After buying them online (for convenience and to save $$$), you'd get a confirmation e-mail--and I forwarded those e-mails to the front desk so that the passes/tickets could be printed. Very easy.

Since we spent 5 of our 7 days at the theme parks, we didn't avail ourselves of any of the onsite activities except for the wine-and-cheese reception on the Saturday afternoon that we checked in. The staff running it were friendly and helpful with answering some questions I had, and the complimentary white zinfandel was very much appreciated after our 5+ hour flight from NJ earlier that day. The kids also got a small complimentary gift pack of candy from the staff--a nice touch.

The resort is located about 100 feet from Harbor Blvd., which is where you'll not only find Disney/California Adventure a mile north, but also many eating options. Albertson's was about a 5-minute drive south on Harbor Blvd. Target was also about 5 minutes away. I should also note that only a couple blocks away from the resort is Carolina's Italian restuarant/pizza (technically located in Garden Grove)...they had the best-tasting pizza I've had in my entire life. And while I was waiting to pickup our pizza, I saw many other delicious plates of food being delivered to the people dining in. Don't miss this place!

Bottom line: Would we stay at Dolphin's Cove again if we re-visit Anaheim? Yes. It didn't have any bells and whistles going for it, but it was certainly a pleasant enough place to stay for a week and for visiting Disney, the location can't be beat.

We stayed at the Dolphin's Cove Resort for one week for our Disneyland trip. We had no trouble at all checking in, and in fact they let us check in a little early which started our trip off on a good note. The room was nice, clean, and appeared to have been recently updated. I was a little worried due to some of the reviews I had read, but we were pleasantly surprised. The resort is close to Disneyland, but not within walking distance in my opinion. You do enough walking at the park that you really wouldn't want to walk back to the resort after a long day. We cooked breakfast in our room every morning, and also prepared our lunches to take to the park. There are grills outside, but we never used one. The pool area was great, and we met another family there who we found out was from our state. I don't think we could have asked for a better vacation, and we would definitely stay here again!!

We stayed at Dolphin's Cove from April 16 - 23, 2011. This resort is absolutely gorgeous! We had a three bedroom and two bath unit for my husband, daughter, son and myself. It was very clean both inside and outside. The grounds were immaculate. It is in a sense a gated community as access is by card only. Felt very secure. The staff was great. Many activities for young and old are scheduled. Very close to Disney Land. Was able to take public transportation. The resort was in a busy area but you wouldn't know it when you were inside the resort. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Noisy near pool. Had option to be farther away

Just returned from a week at the Dolphin Cove Resort. Went with 5 adults and a 5 year old. We had a 3 bedroom unit. Unit was clean. Also the large size with a 5 year old was nice. He could scatter his toys in the living room. We had 3 TV's which was also nice. Having 2 bathrooms was a plus. On the first day there the handle in the bathroom fell off and the air conditioner in the master bedroom did not work well. Within the hour the maintenance people were there fixing both issues. The only problem was the dishwasher did not really work properly the whole time we were there. The grounds are beautiful. The pool was heated and there was a hot tub. We did not partake in any of the other activities offered. We did have the continental breakfast one day which was nice. There was donuts, bagels, juice and coffee. You could always go down to the front desk and get coffee. Not sure about housekeeping-seemed they only came one day to make the beds. We did get new towels every other day, this was fine with us.The location is what is fantastic about this place. There is a new Disney parking lot called the "Toy Story" lot which is just about a block and a half away. You can walk there and catch a free Disney Shuttle to Disneyland-this way you save the $15 for parking. We did use the ART for transportation one day and found it very good. The bus drivers were extremely helpful. We really enjoyed staying at Dolphin Cove and would recommend this place.
