We just got back from a 3 day stay at this hotel and it was very nice. I was worried after reading some of the reviews so I went in with a weary eye. However, everything was great. The rooms were clean and the staff was very nice.

It was about two blocks from the entrance to the resort so walking was no problem. We were with my father-in-law who couldn't walk, so it was nice that the shuttle was located right outside the hotel.

The Jolly Rodger resturant next door offered free lunch and dinner for children, which was nice. There were also several other places to eat within walking distance.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I would recommend staying here despite the few problems we encontered. We had booked a king suite, perfect for two adults and a child. The first night our suite was across from the elevator which is noisy with other guests chatting in the hallway. More importantly, it also had a broken sofa bed. The staff immediately brought us a roll away, since our daughter was already asleep and we didn't want to wake her to change rooms. The next night they upgraded us, at no charge, to a kids' suite for the remainder of our stay. We then traveled around for a few days and returned again to this hotel staying in a king suite with a functioning sofa bed. All in all, we found the staff very friendly, helpful and competent, the rooms clean and spacious and the pool too cold. Nevertheless, for the price, we were pleased with this hotel and, based on our experience, would recommend it. Just avoid the units across from the elevators.

I've stayed in this hotel twice, the first time because it looked nice from the outside and was fairly new so I thought I'd try it and the second time because I booked my trip very late and Portofino was the only hotel available at the time for the price I was willing to pay. I must say that I doubt I would stay there again, although if I absolutely had to I wouldn't be terribly upset about it. My biggest problems were cleanliness, staff friendliness (or lack there of) and an ant infestation in my room that was rather nasty. I found the bathroom to be not so clean when I checked in but the rest of the room wasn't that bad. I'm a clean freak so I'll admit the bathroom did make me a little uncomfortable but I dealt with it. The Ants that were crawling up from the bathroom tub drain were a little much for me though having a bit of a fear of insects, plus having to kill ants and trying to wash them down the drain before taking a shower was a bit of a drag. The staff was really lacking in friendliness and I thought they could have maybe at least tried to smile sometimes. They weren't in any way helpful when I asked simple questions, I had a hard time just getting an answer of any sort. All in all I was not impressed enough to want to go back, I think I'll spend the extra money next time and get a room at the Disneyland Hotel.

Was there for 5 nights over spring break. We had the kids suite closest to the elevator in the Venice Tower. View was of the lobby across the drive way. Every morning at 8:10 am the two housekeepers came up and talked and laughed very loudly not caring at all about the possible guests still alseep. This is the first hotel I have ever stayed in where the housekeepers did more socializing with each other than cleaning. They were not just talking quietly to each other, they were loudly laughing and practically yelling at eachother, no inside voices were used here. When we complained about the noise to the front desk the second day they took down our room nunmber and said they would take care of it. Well they didn't, I went in again to the manager and she said she had heard nothing of it and apoligized and said she would take care of it also. NOT!! So far our family had been awakened 4 mornings. The last morning we awakened by a group of chearleaders at 6 am running up and down the halls slamming doors every minute or so. But when 8:10 rolled around the maids were there loud as ever. When I checked out I was furious the manager apoligized but still took all of my money with a smile.
Do not stay here if you want anykind of a rest. The room set up was great for a family of five but it was not worth it. I will never stay here again.

i am totally confused about the other reviews. we had a kids suite this past sun. it was spotless. we go to disney area a lot, as we have a season pass. we've stayed in many hotels and like to try new ones. here's what we liked about this one and did not:
LIKED:
- kids suite set up: bunk bed, sofa, refrig, microwave and tv in one room, separated by french door. king bed, tv and sink in main room, with another sink, toilet and tub in bathroom. easily could fit three kids and two adults.
- location: very close to entrance to park. ABC market across street. gas station (chevron) right next door.
- very, very clean. everything seemed brand new. extra pillows, sheets and blankets sealed in plastic bag in closet. arrowhead bottled water at no charge.
- bathroom: for a 3* hotel, travertine on the floor, nice amenities, granite threshold, spotless
DID NOT LIKE:
- pool: small rectangle in back, shared with jolly roger inn next door
- check in: 3 pm. held steadfast to this rule, even though we came in on sun. the hotel was sold out the night before, but with only a few checks ins that day, could have cleaned our room earlier
- building locations: the venice tower was across the parking lot. no security guard, except for security card to access building directly from harbor blvd
- underground parking: had to walk outside to get to entrance of building.
- nowhere for daughter to ride her scooter except on the sidewalk on busy harbor blvd.
- view: palm tree blocking gas station
- restaurant: jolly roger, around and through parking lot. very dated and old. kids eat free only applied to lunch and dinner.
- close to dland, but have to drive, wouldn't walk.
- offer a shuttle, but have to pay.
- because of room set up, main room was noisy from housekeepers outside in early am and people walking by. in normal hotel room, entrance is past closet and bathroom. this room opens up directly into the main room, thereby no muffling of sound from outside in hallway.
