“Great for a large family!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We stayed in their two room suite. It had one room with a bathroom and king sized bed, a living area with a couch bed and then another room with two queen sized beds and an additional full bathroom. It was perfect for the 6 adults and 1 child that we had in the room. The couch bed was uncomfortable according to the adult that slept on it but I think that is with any couch bed. It was a little bit of a walk to the park. If you have little ones I would suggest purchasing ART bus tickets through the front desk for only a few dollars a day. Some of the areas in the hotel are a bit worn but overall it was a good fit for us since we wanted to all stay in one hotel room.

Dear heatherm222,

We are happy that we had the perfect accommodations for the 6 adults and 1 child traveling in your group. Our suites are certainly the ideal choice for any size family seeking extra space and amenities for the whole family to enjoy. Thank you for mentioning the Anaheim Resort Transit (ART) shuttle that provides transportation for a nominal daily fee. Although, we are located so close to Disneyland, we do understand how it might be a great option when traveling with little ones. Thank you for your review. We hope that you and your family plan to stay with us on your next visit to Anaheim.

Best,
Mitch Healy, General Manager

We are a Disney family. We have stayed at a lot of resorts. I will say that now my kids are adults and they still want to go because it has become our family tradition. We always stayed at the Candy Cane when they were young, and it is great. I wanted to use miles to pay for this stay and the Portofino was available so we booked it. We wanted a suite we (5adults) could all stay in and surprisingly the kids suite did well. It was very comfortable and big. We do spend most of our time at the park, but my husband said the hot tub and pool were great and we didn't find the walk to be that bad. The staff was nice and helpful. I have stayed at the Grand Californian and the Disney Hotel as well as a number of other hotels in walking distance. The Portofino is simple but very nice and I would recommend it.

Took daughter's family (w/2 young kids, 5 & 8) to Disney & stayed in Kids Bunk Bed suite. Had a view of the Disney fireworks from 5th floor room. Kids loved it, the bunk beds & the childrens table/stools. Their parents slept in comfortable sleeper sofa, and we took outer room, divided by pocket doors. Bathroom has sink, toilet & bathtub/shower behind closed door and another sink in the room. Two TVs was great! Front desk staff very accommodating and VERY friendly. Such a nice hotel that we will stay in again when visiting Disney. GREAT PRICE, clean, and CLOSER to Disney than some of the more expensive hotels!!!

We stayed here with our 2 kids (7 and 4) during our first visit to Disneyland. It is a clean hotel, close to Disneyland and with a lot of different food options nearby. It is a 10 minute walk to Disney and there is also the ART (Anaheim Transit) bus that takes you back and forth. The ART tickets cost $14 for 2 adults and 2 kids and were well worth it for us because at the end of the day at Disney when you are extremely tired and have cranky kids there is nothing like stepping into the bus and being dropped off right outside the hotel. The Disney parking lots are further from the hotel and I am sure they have buses as well but I suspect the ART bus lines are shorter than the Disney bus.

The pool at hotel is nice and warm, the hot tub is also good and they have towels in the pool area and a changing room by the pool. They have the usual vending machines on each floor, there is a gym, laundry room and a game room with about 4-5 video games. Rooms get cleaned daily and the staff is good.

There is an IHOP exactly across the street and it is open 24 hours, there is a small strip mall across the street and it has OK quick Chinese, Pizza options and a liquor store. There are fancier and more expensive reastuarants that are a 10-15 minute walk away as well if you prefer that.

Overall, great value, we would stay here again.

Dear travelwisher,

Thank you for making us a part of your family's very first visit to Disneyland! It was our pleasure to make your experience a memorable one. Thank you for sharing the ART shuttle details with other travelers. Although we are only a short walk away from the Disney parks, the nominal daily ART fee for unlimited rides is certainly a great option to consider, especially with small children. We appreciate your compliments on our staff, accommodations and location and are happy that you would stay here again! Thank you for your review.

The Location was Fantastic, the room was excellent value. We stayed in a family suite which had a separate room for the kids with it's own TV and doors to close it off from the main room. The Facilities are a little dated (ie TV) but for the price, you can not complain. It is about a 10-15 stroll to Disneyland, it is right opposite, but you have to walk around the corner and in to Disneyland. Very convenient and very comfortable.

Room Tip: Family Suite if you have kids!

So this hotel is all about location... To Disneyland in this case, a short 2-3 block walk and you're there. The hotel is actually a pretty good value in terms of price that close.

Unfortunately the hotel seems tired and old. Another posting had a management response that new carpet and repairs were underway, a month later for me and not obvious it's been done. Stayed in a regular room, no safe, noisy air unit, average bath and shower. The beds did rest good and pillows were good

Initially the heat did not work, but maintenance fixed within an hour. He knew exactly what to do though, which suggests the problem is common and not being fixed with replacements (consistent with other items seen). The TV didn't want to work half the time (screen went blank). Fixtures were old and looked it

So if you are looking for a cheap hotel with location, then OK, but with plenty of other hotels within that 2-3 block radius, I'd suggest looking elsewhere

The pros of this hotel are good but for us didn't outweigh the cons.
Pros: 2 "room" suites (divided by glass doors)
-kid room has a bunk bed, small table and larger table, TV
-adult room has king bed and 2 end tables, TV
-fridge and microwave
-clean room
-comfortable bed
This hotel is about a 10 minute brisk walk to the main gate. Fine for us (with our 11 and 13 year olds) but wouldn't be good for much younger kids unless in the stroller.
Cons: So noisy! We heard every thing from the room upstairs from using the toilet, closing drawers, pouring their ice chest with ice down the sink. The first guests were incredibly loud. It sounded like they were playing ball. This went on for 2 of the 4 nights we stayed. We complained 5 times (this was up until 1:00am). We were going to move rooms but the front desk told us they were leaving. For our 4th night there were new people above us but it was just as loud. You can hear people walking back and forth, hear luggage being dragged, etc. We heard their alarm clock go off at 6:00 am. For the noise reason alone, we will not go back.
Other cons:
-no towel bars. With 4 people in a room, there was no place to hang hand towels, wash cloths, etc.
-no breakfast. We usually stay where there is a breakfast spot so we brought food. Which brings me to another con:
-not a lot of surfaces. We could either put our stuff on the 1 table or eat there. Otherwise, there was no place to put anything. (There are drawers and an armoir- no closet). The small table is good for a small child to color on and that's about it. Counter top space in bathrooms is also small, though there are two sinks.
-it took forever to get hot water
-bottom bunk made a rubbery noise everytime someone in it moved

Room Tip: If you must go, I'd ask for the top floor and not by anything that could make noise, like the el...
