A few of the cool little restaurants have closed or been changed over the years but Maria Elena's plugs along. As mentioned earlier, the restaurant is very crowded at lunch, you might want to chose another location if you don't have a lot of time on your hands. Dinner is great, less crowded, fast service, good food. The food is a reasonable price although not extremely cheap compared to other Mexican restaurants. It's about 10-15 dollars per person including a drink. I've had many of the combos and other items, never had a bad meal. The servers are friendly and swift. Lots of the parking is on the street so beware if you drive your Jaguar to the restaurant although it's not a dangerous area but can look intimidating to first-time visitors or folks from out of the area.
