This is a place that is like no other we have encountered. We always stay at the cottage furthest away from the others and enjoy a very secluded and relaxing atmosphere. huge area for reading and enjoying the fireplace and a very wonderful comfortable bed...deck with an incredible view of the ocean and birds flying About.
Incredible restaurant on site --you don't have to get in your car the entire time you're there unless you want an afternoon in Mendocino or something...but really...everything for comfort and luxury is there. We have gone for our anniversary every year for the past four and always rewarded with a wonderful stay in every way.

The only downside I have ever found is the music they play at breakfast...I prefer classical or nothing at all...but they are accommodating and if I ask, they find something I like.

  • Liked — seclusion of the cottages and jacuzzi tubs and great ocean views
  • Disliked — breakfast music which can be adjusted if you ask.

We visited Albion River Inn for the third time in as many years a few weeks ago. Each time we go the Inn never seems to disappoint us. It's the perfect place to "recharge the batteries". Our room and view of the bay were fabulous. We ate dinner and breakfast each day we were there and all were wonderful. We highly recommend staying at the Albion River Inn. You won't be disappointed.

Was there for 5 days; very relaxing. Great breakfast in morning and wonderful dinner. Bartender Ron was very nice. We are very light sleepers, and the fog horn didn't really bother us. Did hear some road traffic, but it wasn't bothersome. View is great, but not as nice as the one at Heritage House. However, for the cost difference, we would definitely stay at Albion River Inn again. Whole place was totally charming.

To celebrate my 35th birthday, we dined at the Albion River Inn and I can say it was a pefect experience! The staff decorated our table with colorful ribbons, and for dessert brought out a candle lit lemon tart, but did not embarrass me by singing "Happy Birthday." Excellent food, excellent wine, excellent service! Thank you for the wonderful birthday memories! If you are in the area, it's worth a trip to the Albion River Inn for dinner! Did I also mention the gorgeous ocean views?!

We spent our honeymoon night at the Albion River Inn and had a wonderful time. We also ate at the Albion River Inn Restaurant. The food was excellent! Our room overlooked the ocean and our views were spectacular. We couldn't have asked for a better trip. We were sad to leave, but we know we will return again. The staff and the service was top notch. Everyone was so friendly. A nice change from the busy city life. Get room 18! It was the best. Don't listen to those negative reviews. The fog horn was hardly deafening. Thank you staff at Albion River Inn. You guys rock!!

  • Liked — Spectacular views and spacious rooms.
  • Disliked — That we couldn't stay longer
  • Tips/Secrets — Room 18 was beautiful. Make dinner reservations. The food is fabulous.

We are long-time, returning guests at Albion River Inn. As to the negative reviews: ANYone can contract food poisening -- a physician should know that. Bad handwashing can happen at the Ritz! We have eaten at Albion (New Years Eve and other times) and always had a wonderful meal, the ambiance is casual but beautiful. As to the rooms: yes, some of them have been upgraded, some are older. But the location and view cannot be beat. The housekeepers are wonderful: they lay a new fire in the fireplaces every night. As to the foghorns: we've slept peacefully -- the foghorns are the music of the Coast. People who complain, I would say, just ask the "sky" and don't understand this is a fairly remote location. We were even there one New Years weekend when the power was out: of course, we could know read, but the dining room was lit by candles and our emergency lanterns (in each room) reminded us of camping. I would recommend Albion River Inn to anyone: You just need to remember that it's a special place, a unique place and not the Top of the Mark in San Francisco.

The Abion River Inn only get better as times goes by...
My wife and family have stayed and watched Albion River Inn grow from humble beginnings to a star on the Mendocino coast.
From the the very beginning,it's restaurant was good, through the years it has become outstanding and award winning. Most of the rooms are bungalows, all have fantastic views of the oceans and cliffs. Most have decks. The rooms are wonderfully understated; wood burning fireplaces, great beds, linens, bath towels, robes,& etc. The bathrooms are larger than most hotel rooms and cleaner than an autoclave. You find yourself shaving or bathing, all the while watching the craching waves through the huge windows. There is a breakfast provided for guests; it's wonderful. The management and staff welcome you and make you feel welcome. Also the restaurant staff is quite wine knowledgeable, so is the owner. You will probably see him there. He is a hands-on guy. When near Mindocino, CA, stay here!
