We stayed in this hotel for one night when passing through Alameda. I booked it the same day via a travel website and got a very good deal on the room rate.

The hotel did not disappoint as it was clean and the room was spacious and equipped with everything one needs. Compared to other motels we stayed at during our trip it felt well maintained and fairly new. An added bonus were the sweet smelling quality soaps and toiletries provided.

The location is a bit out of the way but if you have a car it's not a problem. The marina area is very beautiful and relaxing. I went on a long morning walk along the water and really enjoyed the setting.

As a guest you can get a pass to some sort of gym but after reception told me it was a few minutes drive away I didn't bother with it.

Breakfast was your normal motel continental affair served in the lobby area which was bright and nice. There was a TV showing morning news and newspapers available.

My one negative experience at the hotel was the rude and unprofessional reception staff. Especially the young woman checking us in who didn't seem interested in us or the hotel. She didn't inform us about the gym, breakfast or anything else. Housekeeping on the other hand was very helpful.

We ignored the rude staff and had a very nice stay.

I arrived with my girlfriend for a romantic getaway. After waiting to be checked in for 15 minutes while the front desk clerk was on a personal call, we were given vague directions to the room. After finding our room it took 10 minutes inside to make us decide to leave. The sheets and carpet were dirty. The room was supposed to be non smoking but had obviously been smoked in very recently. The bathroom smelled horrible and there was mold in and around the tub. I ended up out the money for this room as the front desk person magically stopped speaking english when I asked for a refund. Anyone going near Alameda or the entire bay area should avoid this dive like the plague!

I've stayed that this hotel several times a year for the past 5 years and keep going back. It's certainly not perfect but like a quirky friend, you come to appreciate an experience off the beaten path. What's good about this place is great dollar value and a nice quite location by the water, away from fast food and tacky restaurants. They provide a free day pass to the local gym so people serious about exercise will find this place a MUST STAY! All rooms include a refrigerator so it's easy to keep last night's dinner leftovers for a snack later. The free breakfast is nothing special but at least you can grab it quick. If you don't have a car, I wouldn't recommend staying here. Although the hotel staff is always friendly, they are not the most professional in style so a seasoned business travel may be disappointed, especially if they are not accustomed to unpolished "salt of the earth" folk and need to have big fancy rooms and impeccable customer service.

I really didn't like this hotel. Especially, the hotel staff were really unfriendly. Plus,I had a hard time finding the location and the maid looked like didn't clean the room well. I will never ever visit this terrible hotel. I didn't even know this was a hotel.

“Nice little clean hotel”

Marina Village Inn

I contacted the hotel directly to get a corporate rate, the rates on the web were a little more. At $89 /night for a view room I couldn't complain. The rooms were clean and spacious and had free wireless internet. The room had an in room space, work desk, and fridge.

It had everything I needed, I didn't use the pool. The breakfast in the morning was your average continental breakfast consisting of bagels, juice, fruits, cereals and coffee.

I would recommend this hotel if you were doing business in the area. It's only a 10 minute walk to the plaza mall which has drug store, grocery, subway, quiznos, round table pizza, and many more little shops and delis. Angela's restaurant, in this mall, also comes highly recommended.
