“Ok for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

We stayed here for a week. Here are the positives and negatives that we experienced.
Postives: clean and quiet room, nice walking path along the marina, breakfast consisted of apples, oranges, English muffins, bagels, and cold cereal. Plenty of parking
Negatives: showers have no shelves so there is no place to set soap and shampoo which was inconvenient, no wireless Internet in our room and I'm guessing other rooms as well because the lobby was always full of people using their tablets and laptops. One guest checked out and handed the clerk an Ethernet cable. Here we are in the most technologically advanced area of the world and can't even get wireless service. This made planning day trips using the Internet somewhat difficult unless we wanted to sit in the lobby. The day time clerk didn't seem to care much. The juice machine in the lobby was broken the entire time we were there.
Conclusion: if we had to stay only one night it might be ok.

Booked on their website 1 week in advance. Picked their lower priced non-refundable option. The Saturday we were to arrive to Alameda our plane was delayed due to a dust storm in Phoenix. As I knew the check in time would now be past 10PM I called the hotel to let them know our flight was delayed and we will be really late to arrive. They said it wouldn't be a problem. As the night progressed the plane was even later so I called a second time to let them know. Once again they said it wouldn't be a problem. When we finally arrived we were welcomed by "Sorry but we overbooked"
We finally got a room across the water in another hotel for 2-1/2 times the price and we checked in there at 4 am.
Moral of the story, pick a better managed hotel or end up suffering the consequences.

Room Tip: Anywhere but here.

With work, this could be a great hotel. It's next door to the Oakland Yacht Club, which means it's right on the marina (hence the name). But man, is it getting run down and in some need of some fixing up. The outside looks nice enough, which actually kind of got our hopes up, but once we got into the hallway and smelled the staleness, I knew pretty much what we were in for since I've stayed in this kind of place many times--could be nice, but the owner won't spend the money on it. The property is non-smoking, yet our room smelled of stale cigarette smoke; not good for me, a person with asthma. The sink was cracked and the comforter was stained. Bleh. The TV was of a good quality, though, with premium channels and the shower was very nice (and clean, thank God!). The bed was really firm, and I mean so firm that it almost could have been the floor we were sleeping on. The wi-fi was so slow that I didn't even bother with my laptop once I saw how long it took my husband to get online. A continental breakfast was included, but it was lame and not worth our time to get up for the second morning of our stay. We got downstairs at 8:30 (breakfast lasted until 9:00). There was no milk (skim or whole) or orange juice left, so we made do with the little bit of apple juice still in the pitcher. The milk was never refilled and the juice was finally refilled at 8:50. Really? So, I sat there and ate two small boxes of dry Fruit Loops and a bruised up apple (that was the best of the fruit). I got up for that? My husband did snag a pastry before they totally ran out, but this was the lamest breakfast we've had in all of our travels. All in all, this place was very underwhelming. I would say to stay here if you're desperate for a place to stay; otherwise, unless changes are made, there are much better places in the Bay Area. I guess this is the price we paid for waiting until the last minute to book a hotel during peak season.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms. Stay away!

The room was a good size, everything was clean. The beds were comfortable. Decent enough crib/cot for our baby. The hotel is in a quiet area so it is well situated for getting a good sleep. The rooms also have a microwave and fridge which may come in handy. The breakfast is fine, coffee, cereal, bagels. The one downside of the location, would be if you don't have a car then you will be a bit of a walk from shops and public transport. We didn't see any taxi's so I'd say you need to phone for one.

The big plus is the price when you compare it with the general accomodation prices in San Francisco itself.

Room Tip: If you can't lift heavy cases, make sure you get a grounf floor room as there are no lifts.

Our room was a typical hotel room with the usual amenities. There was nothing outstanding about the room with exception of the view. The internet connection was very slow during peak usage times, but the front desk offered a cable to hard wire to the internet. The location of the hotel is in a marina setting with many amenities nearby well as a short drive to downtown SFO. The marina/residential setting was very safe and inspired walks in the neighborhood. The breakfast offered was average for a hotel of this category. Free parking was next to the hotel with additional parking for the marinas. All in all a very good value for the money!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view.

Good- Location. Right next to the marina. Free coffee and bagels in the lobby till 9am.

If you stay here, check-in early so you can change rooms if needed.

Bad- everything had stains (bed sheets and towels). The bed was lumpy and hard, the mattress dipped down on both sides of the bed. Telephone and two of the four lamps did not work for our two night stay, mold and peeling paint in the shower area.

We would definitely stay here again. Accomodated us with a handicap accessible room. Room wasn't real big, but was modern and clean. It is right on the marina - our room didn't have a view of the marina, but a lot of the rooms did. Very quiet. Nice walking trail. They were nice enough to let us check in early since we needed to change our clothes to get to our niece's college graduation on time. Pretty good continental breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a marina view.
