“Love this hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2011

This was my first time staying at this hotel. My husband's parents have stayed here a few times and have always said what a nice hotel it is. We decided to book rooms here for my daughter's sweet 16 party. We had 4 rooms total including a set of connecting rooms. The staff was very helpful with helping me with my reservation. Epecially because I wanted/needed to have the connecting rooms plus the room next to it and across. The girls were really impressed with the hotel. I felt that the rooms and hotel in general was so clean and comfortable. I liked my bed and my pillows were just right. It was just a great experience overall. I would definitely stay her again.

Just finished my second stays with the Hampton Inn Alameda near the OAK airport. Even it is only rated 2-star (sometimes 2.5), it is better than many 3 or 4-star hotels I have stayed in. The room and the bathroom are both very clean. There is no bathtub but shower, but it is good enough for me. There is no restaurant but they offer free continental breakfast (which is actually pretty nice). The staff were also very helpful in recommending restaurants around the area. The business center has two computers. There is a small outdoor pool. They offer free shuttle service to nearby area. Generally I was impressed by this hotel and will recommend it to business travelers with a budget limit.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2010

My parents, my husband and I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights this November. I was hesitant about booking it because of it's proximity to the airport but my worries were needless as this hotel is first rate. It was just a 10 minute drive to Alameda. Compared to hotel prices and parking fees across the Bay in San Fran. this was a real bargain. The planes were an occasional soft rumble in the background and fun to watch. We had a view of the Bay as well as downtown San Fran. from our 2nd floor window. There is a walking path along the water just a few steps from the hotel that skirts an very nice upscale neighborhood. While the hotel does have a free shuttle you will want a car if you are going to stay here for any length of time. It is located at the edge of a business park and seems to cater to mostly business travelers. This hotel is spotless, the staff is friendly and the breakfasts are hot and filling. There are flat screened TVs in the rooms as well as comfortable beds and an assortment of different pillows. This hotel was consistently first rate throughout our 5 day stay.

The rooms were lovely, the beds super comfy, they have a shuttle to take you to area restaurants and the airport, and you can barely hear the planes. But my favorite part has to be the walkway along the water and the view of San Francisco. It is clean, beautifully landscaped and really a treat to have near any hotel, so even more surprising that it was within a stone's throw from an airport!

When you book a hotel near an airport, you expect the usual traffic noice. This was not the case with this Hampton Inn which is not that far away from the traffic of Oakland Airport . It is in a business park setting, The rooms are quiet at night even though you can watch planes take off from your room. The nearest eating establishment is about a mile away in a strip mall in Alameda. They run a shuttle to airport starting a 4 am and continue all day untill 11pm.

The staff was friendly and breakfast was well prepared. The rooms were clean and well stocked and check in was quick. The hotel was very close to car rental return site which was convenient. It was quieter than expected being it was near the airport

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2010

Don't be turned off by this hotel's location smack under the take off path of Oakland Airport. It is new (visit July 2010), clean, well appointed and has the most amazing sound proofing ever. When we pulled up and saw a plane taking off only seemingly a football field or two away I thought we'd be in for a few sleepless nights. But, once inside the hotel, we never heard a single engine. Free parking, free breakfast (better than the vast majority of hotel freebies) and professional staff. If you have kids who are always in search of the hotel pool - they have one but outside and under the flight path. This is actually kind of fun were it not for the fact that the bay area tends to be cool even in July making the pool like ice water. The kids swore they weren't cold but the chattering teeth were a bit of a give away. Don't know why they didn't build it indoors like many other Hampton Inn locations. All basic immenities are included - unlike the "nicer" hotels where we stayed in SF and San Diego that charged outrageous fees for every little thing.

Anyway... as long as you have a car I would highly recommend. They do offer a shuttle but I like to go when I want to go and not be at the mercy of someone running one shuttle for an entire hotel. Assuming you have a car, you are relatively near to the island of Alameda in one direction and fast food and sundries (In-N-Out, Panda Express and a Wal-Mart for those dead camera batteries) in the other. Though judging by the very present security officers I wouldn't venture in that direction very late at night. The front desk was happy to provide a map and directions. Of the three hotels we stayed at this month this would be my favorite in terms of value, cleanliness, and security. I considered several other hotels in Alameda and was very happy I had chosen against them when we saw them live and in person. The Coral Reef Inn, for example, looked quite dated in comparison and was in a fairly shady area. We had occassion to street park in front of that hotel and I was approached by a con-artist in the few minutes it took me to get something from my trunk. In my opinion the short drive from Hampton Inn was well worth being in a nicer, safer location.
