We arrived without a reservation (tip - make a reservation!!), and were greeted by a young man who told us tables wouldn't be available for hours but a spot at the bar would be ready in 40 minutes. He suggested we could have a drink at the winery next door whilst we waited and he would come get us.
True to his word, within 30 minutes he had us seated at the bar.
the place was cram packed, but bar/wait staff were friendly and efficient, we had bread on the table quick smart and meals were served quite quickly.
I ordered the rib eye and the meal was huge, steak well cooked, massive baked potato with garlic butter, sour cream, bacon and chives. Absolutely delicious. Only downer was the side salad was a bit too heavily dressed in balsamic for my taste.
Loved the warm and friendly atmosphere, a great little accoustic band wandering around all night - all in all, highly recommend.

We started with a cinnamon bunn (ask for less sugar on top - WAY too much) but delicious for $8.00. I had green tea for $3.00 and my hubby coffee same price $3.00. Moved on to the goat cheese, spinach and sun-dried tomato frittata (served with two slices of sour dough toast) for $11.00 and the sour dough French toast (four slices) with browned-caramelized pecans for $11.00.

We could not finish our food - you have to be a hearty eater!

There was also a very nice man playing guitar playing Simon and Garfunkel, Billy Joel, etc. When he is not playing the music overhead is Talking Heads, Cars...

Next door is a cute Winery, gift shop.

I would love to review the food here, but we never got ours. The place is very charming, with fun people watching, and the most ill-trained and ambivalent staff I have ever encountered in a restaurant anywhere in the world. At the wine bar, the Server, Trevor, was only interested in telling us about his two favorite wines, and reluctant to serve by the glass anything that he did not already have an open bottle of. When we finally got seated at the bar for dinner, an hour after giving our names, Stella also did not want to open new bottles to serve wine by the glass. This is, in fact, what wine bars do. We ordered food, and while everyone around us got their orders, we waited and waited. When asked about our food, Stella said, "your order didn't get put in." As though she herself had no responsibility for not giving our order to the kitchen. Twenty more minutes passed and the other barmaid explained that our food still wasn't ready because the "fryer is really small." We did not order fried food, nor do I think their kitchen short-comings are the patrons' concerns. Again, other guests continued to receive their orders. We left after that, doing something neither my boyfriend nor I have ever done, we left no tip. Frankly, we regret having paid for out wine. Two hours in a restaurant without ever getting your food. Unbelievable. Its a charming and historic location with staff that has no business working in the customer service industry.

After a few tries to make a reservation and only getting voice mail we decided to go for breakfast and wait. Asked for a table for 4 and was told it should be fast, around 30'
After 40' they called us for three stools at the bar, the forth place was to be disputed with a toddler surrounded by food leftovers. Told the hostess we where waiting for a table she laughs and while walking away she says "neee...we have no tables"... really...they kept me waiting for 40' for a laugh? oh well... maybe they do the same with the food? I guess I'll never know...

My wife an I and two of our very best friends just finished dinner a the Old Place restaurant. This is a happening place. We were the oldest folks in the restaurant(70 something's). The energy is up beat and friendly even though it is a bit noisy. They have a well defined menu with something for everyone. I had the pork chops. My wife had a sirloin steak. Our friends had a rib eye steak and a pasta bowl. The food was fresh and came out hot and delicious. We were serenaded by a group consisting of 2 guitars, a violin and a singer doing western stomping music.

We left with full stomachs and a great big smile on our faces. We will be going back to try their Sunday Brunch.
