“Good Food..... but....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The food was good. Service was excellent. The Corn bread that they bring to the table is great. I have had the Tri Tip on an early visit and it was excellent. But as far as BBQ goes, last night I had the "Texas BBQ Brisket" that had been "smoked" for 12 hours....... It was a lie. There wasn't any pink to the meat, and it had no smoked flavor at all. Like so many places out hear they but some BBQ sauce on it and call it BBQ. The only true BBQ I have found so far is on Sepulveda Blvd. in Van Nuys. Again, good food, good service, but I came for REAL BBQ.

“Excellent service, good drinks & food, good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

I reviewed Willy's last December. We've been there several times and it was okay. Would like to see the interior dining area "redone" with better lighting & decor. Almost like eating in a cafeteria, but dark. The last time we were there I was disappointed in the ribs & prime rib (flavorless). Gave it another try and was glad we did.

Husband had a rib eye steak & it was excellent. I had baby backs - moist & flavorfull. Sides - sauteed veggies, corn,, beans, very good as usual. They mix a good drink, not overloading the glass with ice. The drink, vodka tonic, actually lasted a while. Our waiters and busboys were attentive, but not rushing us in any way. For the first time we ate outside and it was very nice. We always manage to take home leftovers. Ordered a bbq combo dinner to take home to our son -- a great value for a little over $20. Inc. two sides, cornbread, little containers of sauce.
A nice, relaxing dinner - which is what we "old" folks find difficult to locate these days.

“Best BBQ from SF Valley to Santa Barbara”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Always looking for good BBQ in SF Valley, Conejo Valley and Ventura County and coming up disappointed most of the time.

Had tried Willy's before and wasn't impressed but decided to give it another shot. Had the hot links appetizer and the potato skins appetizer, both unremarkable and expensive for the portion. Cornbread was exceptional but they gave us 4 one inch squares and never brought more. Baby back ribs were meaty and tasty and moist, although slightly tough. The brisket was some of the best we've had anywhere and reason to come back alone. The sides were OK, beans were good, cole slaw OK, mac n cheese pretty bland. Still beats anything else out there which isn't saying much.

They are about to change their name to Tavern 101 Bar & Grill specializing in small plates and bar food. Doesn't sound promising at all. Too bad a decent BBQ place can't make it in this neck of the woods.

“Went for lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

Had lunch here recently for the first time and thought the BBQ was excellent. If you've been going to Wood Ranch you should try Willy's. Inside ambience is a little bare but the outside area is nice even though it faces the frontage road and freeway. Not too noisy. Had the sampler and the quality and quantity were excellent. Not too big for lunch but you won't go hungry. Good service.

“Enjoyable meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2012

Came across Willy's by mistake and we were pleasantly surprised. Great service, happy staff. Outdoor seating and clean. Yummy food with great proportions and reasonably priced. Willy's have 5 different sauces for your convenience. Try it out, you should not be disappointed.
