My husband and I made the trip to Alexander City for a week-day getaway. JoAnn, the Mistletoe owner, met us at the back door with chocolate covered strawberries and roses. We were immediately right at home. She led us on a fascinating tour of the home and its furnishings, and she gave us background about how she and her husband aquired the home. The furnishings and collectables kept us finding new and interesting items each day of our visit. One day it rained, and we spent the afternoon on one of the balcony porches reading and dozing, so the day was not really lost but savored. Being nature lovers, my husband and I spent time exploring the history and trails of Horseshoe Bend National Military Park and Wind Creek State Park. We enjoyed baked oatmeal with cranberries and banana compote one morning and apple cinnamon mini pancakes and strawberries and oranges the next day along with the company of a wonderful couple from Huntsville, Alabama. We had dinner both nights at Jake's Restaurant. On Wednesday evening there was even a sax player during dinner. My husband had the fried catfish and said it was some of the best he has ever had. Alexander City is a sleepy little southern town and a great place to get away from it all. If you are looking for night life or excitement, it's not for you, but if you like comfort, quiet, and coziness, and warm hospitality, the Mistletoe Bough Bed and Breakfast is a perfect little escape. JoAnn was eager to make us comfortable, and we were treated just like family.

Room Tip: All of the rooms were unique, so ask JoAnn to help you select one to fit your preferences.

My husband and I decided to escape the hectic city of Atlanta and spend a few days relaxing in a quiet part of Alabama. We chose the Mistletoe Bough in Alexander City because of its proximity to Lake Martin, a recreational lake we had wanted to explore for some time. What a pleasant surprise our B & B experience turned out to be! We have traveled extensively in Great Britain and New England while staying in family inns, and have never enjoyed so much charm and personality as JoAnne provides at the M.B. Inn. The lemon yellow Victorian mansion complete with turreted front sitting porch was full of history. The rooms were spacious with luxurious beds and antique furnishings. Breakfasts were scrumptious. One morning blue berry pancakes, the next sausage hash brown bake served on eclectic personal china complete with fresh fruit with fresh mint embellishments. The M.B. is more than just a place to stay for the night - it is the quintessential "get away from it all" experience. Nearby Lake Martin is a large clean lake with unlimited recreational opportunities. We brought our kayaks and paddled all day observing wildlife and beautiful lake side homes. Who would guess that so much relaxation and charm was within a few hours of Atlanta?

Room Tip: We loved the large Master suite.

We were guests of JoAnn & Jessie for three days and two nights and were treated to a wonderful time. We felt that we were family for the way we were treated by our hosts. We stayed in the Master Suite and it was beautiful and the home was sparkling clean and very welcoming. We were visiting Auburn, which is only 30 or so miles away. Next time we go down to the school, we will certainly return.

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice and roomy.

My husband and I were given a weekend stay at the Mistletoe Bough Bed and Breakfast for our 20th anniversary. Our visit was absolutely beautiful from the accomodations to the inn keeper, Ms. Joann!! I was smitten with her magnificent home and all of her antiques. We stayed in THE most beautiful room at the inn--the Master Suite! Ms. Joann was precious, and we enjoyed visiting with her throughout the weekend. She is a wonderful cook and a charming hostess. We hope to go back this summer and take a ride on the lake.

Room Tip: The Sunshine Room would be my 2nd choice!

My fiance and I visited the Mistletoe Bough as a post-Valentine's Day treat. Upon arrival, Joann greeted us warmly, gave us a tour of the house, and showed us to our lovely room (we stayed in the Sunshine Room). The wood detailing of the house itself if simply beautiful. My fiance and I felt instant relaxation and even commented to each other that we've never felt so welcomed in anyone's home before. We wandered into the kitchen on our first night for a late-night snack (hot tea and lemon pound cake - yum) and ended up chatting with Joann and her friend Jerry... they were a blast to talk to! There is absolutely nothing bad I can say about the Mistletoe Bough. The house was seriously spotless, bed was comfy, breakfast was fabulous, and everyone we met at the B&B was so fun to talk to. A big thank you to Joann for making our mini getaway so special!

Room Tip: The Sunshine Room really lives up to its name. This room gets a lot of natural sunlight, which we l...

Wonderfully quaint Victorian B & B. Everything you would want in a B&B: Clean, cozy, quiet, comfortable beds, beautiful antique decor. JoAnn serves a delicious breakfast. Gourmet coffee on demand. Yummy cookies waiting on us when we got back after dinner. We felt thoroughly pampered!

Room Tip: Rooms book early on Auburn home game weekends.
