I lived next to Pete's for three years and I can't tell you how many times I ate in the place. It's not fancy, it's not "upscale" but Pete's is a really good place for breakfast and lunch. The food is cheap and good. No, you aren't going to find gourmet fare here, but you will find food like your mother made, if she was a decent cook. There is usually a lunch special every day - fish and chips, chicken teriyaki, or some other homy dish. Breakfast fare is just what you'd expect from a real diner - eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, grits, toast and coffee. Located across the street from the Library of Congress, Pete's can get very buys at lunchtime with tons of government workers but it's worth the wait. Oh, and one of the best things about the place, is the women who work there. They are all quirky and wonderful!
