“Good value - location just okay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

We enjoyed our stay here. Things we liked were the updated and comfortable rooms (incl. flat screens), the friendly and helpful staff, the quietness at night, the fact that there was an elevator (albeit a slow one), the tasty breakfast with lots of choices, and the left luggage service.

Things we didn't like was that it was rather far from subway stops (10+ min walk) although there are a couple buses nearby (including the $1 distributor bus). Get a bus map if you're going to stay here as they are a more convenient and often quicker than walking to the subway. This hotel is fairly far from the White House and the Smithsonians so don't plan to walk, take the bus/subway.

The other thing we were frustrated with was the breakfast space. The room is not big enough to handle the peak breakfast rush if the hotel is fairly full. If you go down between 8:00-9:00, be prepared not to have anywhere to sit to eat. They seem to struggle to keep food stocked at this time too.

If we go back, I would probably look for a hotel more in the lower downtown as we spent most of our time there.

“Nice Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

This hotel has very friendly staff and clean rooms. Although the rooms are small they are well appointed. There is no driveway with overhang so the valet is curbside. The valet was very attentive and was right there when I pulled up. The receptionist greeted me with a big smile. My room had a refrigerator in it which was nice.

“be aware of payment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

DC is a widely spread town geografically, so the location of the hotel is good for exploring. Metrostation is some 10 mins on foot, and if you are with a company then the best to explore is by taxi ( roughly 10 usd to Lincoln memorial, Union station or Georgetown). Rooms are of decent size, some worn and tear clearly seen especially in the bathroom, but this is not 3 stars or more hotel in european standards.Strange smell bothers once entering the room, some old damp. I understand this is prevailing in the whole hotel, as our friends changed 2 rooms and smell was present. You can switch conditioner on , smell might get weaker, but still there. Breakfast was good, choise of cereals, yogurts , fruits, even waffels to make by yourself, and very helpful staff down there. No caffe or bar close around, Dupont circle is some 25 min on foot . Our worst experience with hotel was payment that is why we rate front desk staff as incompetent. On arrival during check-in the total amount for 3 days stay was put on hold from my credit card , in the morning of check-out it was put on hold one more time. On check-out we paid cash, as it was our last day in USA (we are overseas tourists) and wanted to spend our last cash. 5 days after our leave hotel deducted and credited at once the first hold of funds from my card while still keeping the second hold allthough it was already paid on check-out. I had to go through claim process at my home bank as i suffered some 50 usd loss due to exchange rate and extra Visa operations. Very time-costly experience due to malpractice of hotel.

“Everything we wanted”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

I stayed here for three nights with my 14-year-old niece. The location was perfect for walking to the major attractions or catching the metro to travel farther away. I felt very safe walking in the neighborhood both night and day. Our room was like new, nicely furnished and spacious for a big-city hotel room, and our bathroom had enough vanity space for two sets of toiletries. The bedding was as soft and comfy as that in my own home, and other than routine street noises, the room was very quiet.

However, the most memorable part of our stay will be how well we were treated. Having arrived in D.C. on a 7a.m. flight, we went by the hotel just to drop our bags. We were amazed when we were told that there was a room available and that we could go ahead and check in. (Normal check-in time is 3:00 p.m.) We were invited to get some breakfast while housekeeping made sure that all was ready in the room. Being able to grab a power nap until the museums opened at 10:00 a.m. made all the difference in our day, as we had gotten up at 3:30 a.m. to get to the airport on time. Every encounter we had with staff was pleasant. We would gladly stay in this location again.

“Top Notch Comfort Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

From beginning to end, this was a great experience. We called a day ahead for a reservation and got Kyle, who was extremely helpful in making the reservation and arranging a tour. The hotel is lovely and our room was a corner room with windows all around with fantastic views of the city. The bed and bedding were very comfortable. Many museums, restaurants, etc. are within walking distance and we felt very safe doing that in the day and evening. Of particular note is the Newseum, which is a wonderful comprehensive museum of all things journalistic. We were amazed and could have stayed much longer. We took an evening tour of city monuments, which was very well done and interesting. Breakfast was in a lower level with upscale furnishings. The food selections were numerous and great. Check out was a breeze, and again, Kyle was fantastic and helpful. The bellmen were also super and assisted us when we arrived and when we left - first class all the way in this hotel! My only quibble is with myself ... I was not accustomed to the high traffic area and circled the block a couple of times having a minor panic attack, and driving my poor husband crazy before I figured out to just park in front on the building and they will take care of the rest. Just an FYI for anyone staying there - they will watch out for you and take care of all your needs. Thanks to everyone for making our two day stay in DC so enjoyable!

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room - windows all around.
