“Great room, will stay here again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2011

Yes, it's pricey. Yes, they're on the tacky side not offering free wi-fi or even free internet in the business center when I'm already paying $400 a night (it cheapens their brand to nickle & dime you that way). But wow, what a hotel! Clean, well-maintained--presentation, presentation, presentation. I think I've finally found a regular hotel in the city. Service was wonderful (when I checked out, the desk clerk remembered what I had come to the District for & asked me how the meeting went) and the location is ideal. If you can afford it, this is the way to go.

Really 4.5. A fantastic fun place to stay. Lots going on. So convenient, park your car and walk to it all! There are fine restaurants nearby, but the one in the hotel was quite good as well. The room was quiet, comfortable, and nicely appointed. Ultimately, it was a tad pricey, especially given that they overbooked and did not have the room we requested at the time of check-in, and then did not even break on the price...but, nonetheless, worth it for the experience.

Room Tip: Check online for comparable pricing. They do overbook, so...confirm your room if you can.

I will NEVER go there again! We were delayed in our room and the room wasn't what we had reserved. The front desk argued about it and FINALLY gave us another room which was dark and dismal after we threatened to go to another hotel. The service was non-existant as well as unfriendly. The lobby is a noisy mass of business/and or political types. It is a very unpleasant atmosphere. The only decent people were the folks trying to get us cabs. THEY were nice. Would I go back? NEVER! I am going back to the Hay-Adams where they know how to treat you and are personal & helpful. Beware of this place. It's not what you expect but they will give you a nice view of the Marriott next door if that's what you want.

Room Tip: Yes, go to another hotel!

Our room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable and we had very restful sleep after a long day sightseeing. The location is perfect, just a few blocks walk away from many of the capital's attractions. The architecture and history of the hotel is very interesting and the reception area is very period and opulent. We found the door staff and concierge were lovely and very helpful. We were however disappointed with the breakfast facilities. The seating area is very small compared to the hotel and a 45 minute wait for a table was, for us, unaccaeptable and we went elsewhere. It was also disapointing that the staff were not as helpful as the rest of the hotel and on one occasion the waitress down right rude to a family in front of us. Hence the 4 star rating and not 5.

Grandiose surroundings, friendly staff and service, however something stopped me from loving it to be honest.

Maybe it was the feeling that the room was slightly tired, the bathroom could do with a refresh - though the bedroom was a very good size.

Reception and concierge were very helpful with regards to my queries on the area and couldn't complain about the room rate.

Stayed at the Willard 10/10 thru 10/13. Location can't be beat. Staff is welcoming and cordial. Our room (1225) was not ready at 4:00 check-in time, so we were given complimentary cocktails in the Round Robin Bar and waited about an hour for our room. Nice touch! Room was much larger than I expected and the ultimate in quiet. Floors/furniture/bathroom were clean. Light fixtures need cleaning (bugs in them) and bed needed replaced (totally sacked out). While towels were replaced each day, clean glasses were not replaced for our entire stay (dirty ones were removed, but no clean ones provided). All in all, given the cost ($569 a night), I expected more. Our package was Parc and Park (including buffet breakfast each morning in Cafe Du Parc) and valet parking each night. We have stayed in luxury hotels all over the world and while the Willard is nice, I would have to say they are definitely trading on their reputation. Public rooms are elegant. Food/drinks are good/average. Rooms are just average. If you want opulent, luxuious hotel, stay elsewhere. If you want to say you've stayed at the Willard and enjoy the location, this is the place for you. We can cross it off our "bucket list."

Room Tip: Request quiet room far from elevator on 12th floor.

This is a great hotel centrally located in Washington D.C. if you are planning to visit the White House and Smithsonian museums. There are restaurants within walking distance.
Upon checking-in, we were upgraded from the Willard Room to the Executive Room (corner room with 3 windows on one side and 1 window on another side). The room comprises of two full baths, and the reason we cannot give this five star was because the bathroom issue. One bathroom the water does not down easily, and the second bathroom has little pressure. Other than these issues, the room was fantastic. The room even have a dining table that can sit 4 people and can be extended up to 6 seating.
For these reasons, we considered the Willard Intercontinental Hotel as a Great Hotel in Washington D.C.
