“Wonderful Stay, Huge Bargain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

If I had not stayed at the Washington Court Hotel in the past, I would have shied away from staying in DC at a hotel listed on bookit.com for $87 a night. I knew the hotel as having a good standard, with friendly staff and decent rooms. Since I last stayed there, they have updated the rooms, with better beds, bedding, nicer amenities. The rooms are a decent size, with terrific bathrooms. The lobby was cheerfully decorated for the holiday. The breakfast buffet was reasonably priced and about what you'd expect. The staff is still friendly and the rooms are even better. Huge bargain. If I had parked there at $46 a night, it would have been more than 50% of the cost of the room. I parked instead at the parking garage at nearby Union Station for less than half the cost.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel, and we got a corner room and the best view (Capitol Hill). It looks old from the lobby, but not from inside the room.
In case you are hungry in the middle of the night, there is a burger restaurant just across the street.

Room Tip: Pick corner suites!!

The Washington Court is a lovely hotel with warmth, lots of wood and a friendly staff. It has a huge lobby and fast elevators that are glass that look down into the lobby area. The hotel bar is nice and we had a cheese plate and wine and the cheeses were nice. The room is warm and inviting with lots of wood and you feel like you are in a modern English countryside inn. The bed is comfy as are the pillows. The bathroom and amenities are wonderful. Breakfast the next morning was delightful. We had eggs benedict with fresh squeezed orange juice and it was delicious. The proximity to Union Station is wonderful, just 3 blocks away. It is right at the capitol building and some of the rooms even look out on the capitol but ours didn't and was excellent none the least. Parking is expensive so we parked 4 blocks away in the Heritage Foundations lot that has an alleyway off of E Street, block 300, you can't miss it it is almost at the end of the street block on the right. You can park there for free on the weekends. Our daughter who lives in DC gave us this tip and you really don't need a car in DC so why not park the 4 blocks away and save almost $50 a day. The hotel is within walking distance of the Capitol, Smithsonians, and other monuments if you like to walk. Otherwise, take the metro. A good restaurant in Georgetown is Bodega. Very popular for Spanish food and tapas, Stay at the Washington Court, you can't beat the atmosphere or the location. We will be back.

Room Tip: Choose a room on a high floor away from the elevators. It is very quiet.

Yes, I would just like to take a moment to let you all know about my stay the weekend of December 5-7, 2013. First of all everyone was very nice and professional. It was our first trip to DC and everyone was so helpful and friendly and answered any question we had. My fiancé and I were met at the curb and escorted to our room which was clean and comfortable. Everyone from the staff at the front desk to the gentlemen at the door, were so nice. They knew where everything was and pointed us in the right directions. They got taxis for us. One gentleman at the desk even printed us out maps to navigate downtown. I can assure you that when we return, we will not stay anywhere else but The Washington Court. I would like to especially thank one gentleman at the door. I never caught his name but he was from Madrid, Spain. He was so nice and friendly and spent several minutes just talking to us. He went out of his way to make my fiancé feel special and beautiful, which she definitely is. I could see in her eyes that he really made her day. Please thank him and all of the staff for us.

Room Tip: We didn't see any other rooms but ours. Ours was on the 8th floor and everything was so clean an...

Unfriendly unwelcoming unhelpful reception staff.

Dining room staff the opposite. Very helpful and very friendly. Nice large airy courtyard space for dining room.

Rooms large. No view of anything but the street and the generators.

Bell boys also helpful and friendly.

The hotel is very close to Capitol building and ideally located. I stayed here for a night.

The staff are courteous and helpful. The air conditioner in our room was not working and upon our request the engineer immediately attended and repaired it.

I had the continental buffet breakfast here (costing about USD 12.95). It was fair though I felt they could have given more varieties (may be as I am from India where breakfast is complimentary with lot more options).

I recommend this hotel.

This hotel is very nice and clean. The staff was exceptionally friendly. There is a starbucks conveniently right across the street. The only thing I would advise people of is that walking from the Judiciary Square metro station there have been alot of shady people hanging out on street corners. The first night there were alot of emergency vehicles in one area between the metro stop and the hotel. Later I found out someone was stabbed there. The hotel is only a few blocks from the Capitol. So, I'm not sure sure how I would rate the location....it's close to the Capitol, but in a sketchy area.
