“Great Location near the Capitol and Union Station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

I only give this hotel a "very good" rating because it was so quiet and so well located.

Some flaws that they could control: WIFI in the room was very pricey....free if you went to the lobby. The coffee in the room was the worse I've ever seen.....a Motel 6 would do better.

On the very plus side--the breakfast was a good deal off of the menu....but I thought they didn't have free coffee in the lobby until I found the coffee bar near the entrance to the cafe.

Staff very friendly--rooms very quiet--very close to Union Station (the Metro) and some eating places.

Room Tip: we were in a deluxe room, not a suite,,,,,but it was very quiet

If someone tells you something at this hotel, make sure you get it in writing. Three people said Sunday would be free, and then they charged for it. When we found out we had to pay for parking! "PAY FOR PARKING!" we decided to take the car somewhere else and they told us they had already charged us for it. It seemed like they just charge helter skelter for whatever they wanted to.

Oh, and if you do decide to stay here, be sure to bring your own toilet paper, apparently there is a shortage, and they don't often supply any in the room! For that matter you better bring your own coffee too, must be a shortage of that as well!

Room Tip: Rooms elsewhere are the best!

My boyfriend and I decided to have a weekend getaway to Washington, D.C. We booked our stay at the Washington Court Hotel after viewing it on Groupon and finding exceptional reviews accommodated with a great offer.

We arrived at the hotel on a Saturday at approximately 12:30pm and expected no more than a bag check since check-in was not for a few hours. However, upon meeting Paul and Charlene (the front desk personnel) who greeted us with warm smiles, they reassured us that there would be no need for that and we would be permitted to check in early to our room. We were very excited. Paul and Charlene also provided us with a discount and VIP accommodations to a very well-known Italian restaurant to have dinner the night of our arrival to add a bit of romance to the evening. It was more than we could have expected.

That was a great beginning to our trip and made it even more memorable. Upon entering our accommodations we were more than pleased. The room was immaculate and overlooked the capital building… a great topping to our weekend getaway. Before our weekend excursion was through, room service delivered a delicious breakfast to our room. It was wonderful!

We enjoyed the beautiful city and had lots of fun! We look forward to another stay at the Washington Court Hotel and hope we encounter again great people like Paul and Charlene. Not only were they friendly, but extremely hospitable. All questions were generously answered and it was apparent they wanted to provide only the very best for us on our trip. They were incredible.
Thank you… and an even bigger thank you to Paul and Charlene.

Best Wishes,
Ashlee & Ewan

We stayed at the Washington Court Hotel this past summer. The location is great, walking distance from Union Station and the Capitol. We arrived late at night and were carrying our suitcased, so I wanted to stay close to avoid a long walk to the hotel near midnight. since we arrived late and only staying for one night, the updated the room to the suite that was available. The suite was awesome with view of the Capitol that looked expectacular at night. The hotel staff was very friendly and the following day we were able to store the luggage in the hotel, we tour the US Capital during the day, then picked up our bags and when to Union Station to rent a car. It was very convenient and the hotel was so nice, I decided to do the same thing when we returned the car; but this time we arrived earlier and left the bags at the hotel (before check in); then tour the city and came back to the hotel to pick up our bags and head to our room. It was not the suite, but the room was really nice, clean and a good size. I should say that I was travelling with teeneagers (visiting colleges) and they also liked the hotel and the conveniece of not having to carry their luggage through town. I woul stay there again next time we go to DC.

Room Tip: Call ahead if you know that you are going to arrive late, maybe you will get the upgrade to the pent...

We have stayed at a number of hotels in the district and have returned to the Washington Court on Capitol Hill three times because of the reasonable rates (especially when Congress isn't in session), friendly staff, and very comfortable accommodations. The food at the hotel's restaurant, Bistro 25, is very good, too, with a menu that is diverse and well prepared. On the most recent trip, I enjoyed kale salads with mandarin oranges and a zesty ginger dressing, and a pizza that was so generously topped I was able to make another meal of it later.

This is a quiet hotel where people come and go, but sounds are muffled to the point where rest comes easily and work can be accomplished in a stress-free environment. As other reviews detail, the hotel is located walking distance to the train station, Capital, other restaurants, and the museums on the National Mall. The main reason we give this hotel high marks, though, is the staff. The friendliness and courtesy we've found here make us feel welcome and at ease after a long trip across the nation.

Some of the heat during one of my showers was lost, which was a bit of an inconvenience and a minor discomfort. And some aspects of the hotel are fading around the edges--especially compared to The George, nearby. But the Washington Court is definitely on par with the Mayflower and others of that ilk for comfort and dining, if not history and provenance.

The Washington Court Hotel was an unexpected highlight of my recent trip to DC. My room was bright, spacious, and had a FABULOUS view of the Capitol Dome. Hotel staff was helpful and friendly. The in-house restaurant’s food and service were good and reasonably priced. The lobby’s multiple seating areas are elegantly furnished yet comfortable and inviting open spaces to socialize, read, or work on your laptop. The hotel is conveniently located only 2 blocks from Union Station, which not only turned out to be DC’s ground-transportation hub, but also a great place to dine and shop. The Washington Court Hotel was an unbelievable value for the money and I would highly recommend this property to family, friends, or anyone I want to impress.
