“Beautiful rooms, close to everything, lovely staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

We loved this hotel; we were only in DC for 3 days and we found this to be a great spot to stay. The main concierge was delightful to deal with and was so welcoming from the moment we arrived. Rooms are clean, spacious and stylishly decorated. Comfortable bed and great shower. The restaurant downstairs was great, beautifully decorated and super professional and attentive staff. Highly recommend.

First visit to Washington. Hotel is centrally located 3 blocks from the White House virtually opposite the Washington Post office.
Taxi was £40 from the airport. Reception staff appeared to be multi lingual. Quick and efficient check in. Nice room with 2 very comfortable double beds. About 10 pillows per bed!! Room was modern and well cleaned. Downside was a bit erratic air conditioning, but we were doing that much walking each day did not really notice it too much.
Very expensive minibar, over 200 dollars for half bottle of spirits is excessive, one would imagine catering for the business man, not your typical tourist. Ice is free of charge via room service which can be a pain.
There is not a vast choice of bars / restaurants nearby, but they can be found.
This is a very nice hotel centrally located if you are looking to see the sites or on business.

My 1 night stay at the Madison was almost "perfect"... The location is great, easy walking to DC sights and Metro. We arrived very early at 10am and our room was available.. very nice agent had no problem swiftly checking us in, offering a hotel tour, which we declined and we were off to our room. Deluxe King was small but beautifully furnished, with a large marble bathroom. Bed was super comfy and all in all a great city hotel room, very recently refurbished and in great shape.. The TV remote was not functioning, so someone came, couldn't fix it, and within 5 minutes they sent a new TV ! small glitch, handled very well..... bfast was great too... A great DC choice..

We just returned from 3 nights at the Madison. The rooms were beautifully decorated, well appointed, and very clean. The towels were large, fluffy and soft which is something I appreciate after having found the opposite in many hotels. The staff was amazing, helpful and friendly, always remembering and using our names upon departure and arrival. Their Star service is just that. Requests were responded to quickly and efficiently. It is centrally located and walking distance or short cab or metro ride to most attractions. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again on our next trip to DC.

Great experience at the Madison. Loved the decor. The staff were VERY friendly and attentive. The room we had was a average/decent sized king room but the decor is lovely and gives it a very upscale feel. We walked around in the evening as well as at night and felt very comfortable in the neighborhood. Very convenient to get to the white house and other sights. This time it was just my husband and I for a weekend getaway but this is the kind of hotel where you could also bring your family and be very comfortable. Highly recommend and looking forward to returning next year!

Room Tip: We chose the deluxe king room to get the street view but I wouldn't bother next time. The street...

We had our reservations a month in advance. Imagine our disappointment after the travel, time and effort when we arrived at the hotel to find no room. They moved us to the Omni and said we could come back after 2 nights. It just wasn't worth the time and re packing to go back. So we didn't.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

I stayed at the Loews Madison Hotel in March, 2013 for 4 nights with my 12 year old son.  The Madison is centrally located.  It is 12 blocks from the Museum of Natural History.  We walked to the national mall our first day and it took us about 30 minutes.  On the rest of the days,  we took advantage of the Capital Bikes program and biked to all of the museums and monuments from the Madison.  There is a Capital Bike Rental station one block from the hotel.  It is also only 4 blocks to a Whole Foods grocery store (on P and 15th Street), which we went to for healthy snacks and even dinner one night.  We walked to Georgetown our first night for dinner, which was about 18 blocks from the hotel.  The hotel rooms were clean and comfortable.  The bell staff were very friendly and helpful.  They held our bags in a locked room for 3 hours on our last day.  There were, however, several things that detracted from our visit. On oddity at check in was that they said I had asked for a lower level room, which I had not requested.  I had requested a garden view room.  I figured out that Loews, in an effort to be helpful, had saved my request for a low level room from a previous trip with my dog in another city.  They put us in a room on the 4th floor that faced the street, which was noisy, but manageable.   The restaurant was also not a great fit for us.  We ate breakfast at the restaurant two mornings.  The waitstaff were friendly and attentive and the food was ok.  However, the restaurant seems to be business oriented and the host sat us and the other families in the back, away from the business people who were in the front of the restaurant both mornings.  The host also made us wait 10 minutes one morning to seat us, even though there were plenty of available tables.  One last thing, my son left his book in the room on the bed when we left.  It was not a valuable book, but he was enjoying it so I called the hotel 4 hours after we checked out and asked if they could get it from the housekeeper and send it to us.  The person to whom I spoke said that they would call us back in 15 minutes, but never did.  I waited 45 minutes then called them again.  The hotel staff member said that they were not able to find the book.  This was odd and disappointing.
