“Beautifully Renovated”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2012

We stayed in one of the new, beautifully renovated rooms at the Madison Hotel in late February 2012. The room was spacious, including a desk and modern, traditional chair for reading and lounging. The hotel lobby had recently been redone as well as was The Federalist restaurant on the first floor. The staff was very friendly, especially the door man who offered advice on where to eat and which sites to visit. Great location, close enough to walk to the mall on a warm day as well as great restaurants. We had a great dinner a few blocks away at Georgia Brown's (chic low country food) and completed our night with a show at the Warner Theatre.

We got a great rate on our stay via www.sniqueaway.com, a tripadvisor partner.

There was a mix-up in our room reservations, but the staff handled the situation and we were very pleased with our accommodations and our stay. The location is excellent for walking to many of the attractions and the staff was very pleasant to us and our grandchildren. We all had a wonderful time. The hotel is undergoing some redecorating, so there is a noise factor at times. However, the renovations are beautiful.

We just spent a week at The Madison while on family vacation and were very pleased with our experience. Our room was very nice, beds are comfy, the staff is very friendly and responsive to requests. We were a couple of blocks away from a Metro station, which was really convenient for sightseeing. We had drinks and dessert one night at the recently opened PostScript. We would definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity.

They are renovating so I got a good deal. I'm glad I tried them, the Hyatt jumped to well over
200$/night so I ended up here for half that. Location very convenient to Metro and close to
main attractions. There was light drilling in the wall from about 9 to 5 but it wasn't very
bothersome. Not sure if I could have taken a nap, but almost. I was on 14th floor. The room
was offset some from the main hallway and was really comfortable and homey.

Bathroom seems brand new (in fact, they seem to have forgotten to install a soap dish in the
shower). Pretty wallpaper scenes of Colonial days. Just really nice all around. The room was calming after a very busy day. Housekeeping stayed well away, honoring door sign, until
I was ready to leave around 10am.

Staff very friendly, almost too eager if you know what I mean - I'll get my own bag from the
cab.... Free wireless internet, though glacially slow at times. I'd return.

Room Tip: ask about where the renovations are

Highly recommend The Madison for leisure or business travel...they deliver an exceptional experience for a very acceptable price!

Room Tip: Ask about renovations and rooms with unobstructed views if you care about that.

I spent 1 night this week at the Madison. The staff could not be friendlier or more helpful - from Koultha (sp?) at the desk who printed out directions to museums for us - to the doormen and porters to Dip at the restaurant. The coffee at the coffee bar is excellent. The
The room was lovely (we got an upgrade) and the beds were great! Toiletries in the bathroom were very nice. My mother was not overly thrilled with the placement of the railing in the bathtub but it was fine with me. I was pleased to find a lighted make up mirror.

Room Tip: ask for a recently renovated room

I’ve stayed at the Madison on several occasion in connection with protective security details. Hotel in great location minutes away from all federal buildings and tourist attractions. Staff is superb, newly reinvented restaurant, banquet facilities, guest rooms, and lobby. Beware of the loud and rude housekeeper on midnight staff that tells guest not to walk on her floors and stop them from using the public restroom facilities. If you can avoid her your stay well be every enjoyable.
