“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

We do not travel very much, but when we do travel we like to be comfortable. We could not have picked a better hotel to stay at for our trip to DC. From the minute we arrived and walked in the front door we were addressed by name and treated like family. We loved being within walking distance, sometimes a very long walk, of just about every monument, museum or restaurant we wished to visit. Each day we were given cold bottles of water before we headed out on our adventure.

Our room was so comfortable, clean and beautiful it was nice to come back to after a long day of sightseeing. We loved looking out at the Washington Monument, first thing in the morning and before going to bed, when it was all lit up. The bathroom was huge and the shower was outstanding.

The breakfast served everyday was delicious and the staff ever so friendly.

Every concierge person, (I apologize for not remembering their names, I waited too long to write this review) went over what we were going to do that day and made suggestions and provided maps and gave directions when needed.

We loved the beautiful "Book Room" and I was allowed to borrow a book and take it to my room to read.

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Jefferson Hotel and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 7th floor and faced the Washington Monument.

Perfect hotel in a great location to visit all of the great spots of Washington DC. We sadly didn't eat at the main restaurant but had several evenings in the great bar which was perfect.

The rooms were of a good size and the staff was ready to help in any way.

Will be back there hopefully very soon

This elegant gem is an insiders dream venue for private meetings and dinners. One of the finest boutique hotels in DC with exquisite surroundings, superb restaurant and bar and extraordinary service. A short distance away from larger destination hotels but a favorite for Washington insiders. Many political meetings, including presidential campaigns, as well as important business meetings have been held in its quiet corners and its professional and elegant ambiance has never lost its luster. Also a wonderful place for a romantic evening. Simply a marvelous hotel which will graciously attend to your every wish.

If you want a more personalized hotel and are tired of the big chain hotels that can't remember you are guest there, then The Jefferson is the hotel for you. Cannot say enough good things about this boutique hotel. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel room (deluxe king) was goregous. The hotel itself is beautiful. We had breakfast every morning at the Greenhouse restaurant in the hotel and the food and staff were excellent. The waiters, concierge, and reception desk personnel would greet us by name. The doormen were so considerate and also would greet us by name. Such a wonderful experience. We highly recommend The Jefferson in D.C. Plus, it's within walking distance to everything!

Service was great, the Hotel was upscale and very nice. We had a nice room with a view of the Washington Memorial. It is a long walk to the Mall, but can be done. Walk to the White House took about 15 minutes. Coffee in lobby was a nice touch and tasty. Free Wi-Fi was nice. Would return for sure.

Room Tip: Upper floors and facing the Mall

My wife and & I plan a yearly visit to DC. This is the first visit where we stayed in the city. Usually we stay with friends in Virginia. Overall our experience was very good. Some of the positives: friendly staff, the concierge recommended a restaurant we tried called Zaytinya's, which we enjoyed, hotel was very clean, location to the sites was excellent --- just a short walk to the Farragut North Metro station (red line), room had a Bose radio, a nice touch, staff assisted with hailing us cabs ... We chose this hotel based on the reviews on Trip Advisor. I wanted to give a rating of 4/5 but did not due to the following. For a luxury hotel that costs $500/night I expect perfection; (1) check in was @ 3pm .. we arrived at 3pm to a non busy reception area & our room was not ready. Originally our room was to be on the 5th floor but was placed in a 2nd (205) floor room. I did not want to wait for the 5th floor room, which we were told would be a15-20 min wait, (2) some TV stations were not available the day we arrived -- we were told an upgrade was being done on some TVs -- odd that this info was not communicated when we checked in, (3) the water in the shower varied between hot and warm, made it hard to determine how to turn the handle, (4) the shower handles were oddly on the opposite wall of the shower head, (5) the hot/cold vanity faucet handles turned in different directions, (6) the pillows on the bed were too soft and provided no head or neck support, (7) the bathroom door, oddly, did not open the entire way and separated the room, making it difficult to move in the bathroom, (8) found out several hours later, after check out, that my credit card was charged for incidentals. Although this will be credited, since we had no incidentals, and I understand why the hotel needs to do this ... This info should be communicated during the check in process.

Room Tip: Our room faced 16th street, so we did hear car & foot traffic. However I expected that for a ci...

Dear JCTraveler,

Thank you for taking the time to post about your recent stay with us. I’d like to address some of your comments, beginning with your check in time. I apologize that your original room was not immediately available and that some of the channels were not working on your television. We were in the process of replacing all of our televisions with new smart TV’s and updating the capabilities on our televisions; this project has since been completed. Lastly, I will be sure to follow up with the front office regarding being told about the hold that is put on your card for incidentals. This hold is customary and is released in 5-7 business days. Should you have any additional questions, I encourage you to contact me directly.

Sincerely,
David Bueno
