“The Jefferson”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed today NEW via mobile

We stayed at the Jefferson from July 20-23 and we thought it was amazing. The staff was very friendly and willing to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
Pros: accommodating staff, wonderful food (truly), clean room with amazing shower.
Cons: $45 a night parking fee, food is wonderful but expect to pay a good deal (breakfast was close to $70 w tip), not every room has a view.

If you want to experience historical elegance, then look no further than the Jefferson Hotel. The woodwork in this hotel is so incredibly beautiful, and the details in the floors and the casings are remarkable. While it is true the sleeping rooms are quite small, they are well appointed and beautifully decorated. In addition, and unlike some other luxury hotels, the rooms offer complimentary water and wifi. Robes and slippers are also provided. A beverage bar is available in the lobby, which provides hot coffee in the morning and iced tea in the afternoons.

The staff is attentive, friendly and non-intrusive. The door man was so polite and gave us a tour of the building on our way to our room. When I needed some hairspray, the hotel sent up a travel size bottle right away. We also had a little trouble with our TV remote. Again, the hotel sent up someone to look at it right away. He ended up getting us a replacement that worked fine.

The only reason I have given the hotel 4 stars instead of 5 is because of our dining experience. We had brunch in the beautiful atrium and things just didn't go as well as we had hoped. First, the coffee wasn't hot, but the server brought a new pot as soon as we asked. The butter tasted a little off to me, but I later learned they serve (locally made) unsalted butter, which I just didn't care for I guess. Our egg dishes had a pungent odor/taste, although we ate everything without incident. Upon inquiry, a manager appeared and made sure we were comfortable with what had been served and also kindly removed one of the entrees from our bill, so we felt better in the end. I would definitely return to this lovely hotel.

Everything about our stay at The Jefferson- from the decor to food to the service- was pretty perfect. The bed was the most comfortable hotel mattress I have slept on, period.
I can also highly recommend upgrading to a room with one of the MASSIVE freestanding bathtubs.

The staff is both friendly and attentive, and I can't say enough about the ease of check-in and check-out. Kudos to Vivian, who was also kind enough to give us a tour of the many artifacts of Thomas Jefferson's life that are displayed discreetly around the hotel.

Room Tip: It's all about the bathtubs. Really.

The Jefferson is an absolute experience - nothing is too much for the staff. It may seem expensive however much is included in the price from phone calls anywhere to the turn down service. Thefood is wonderful and the Quill bar has a piano player on the week-end. Have a facial and feel renewed!

My husband I were in DC to visit our adult daughters and were impressed by the service and facilities at the Jefferson. We travel frequently and believe this hotel is on par with the most luxurious and special hotels we know. We will be regular guests at this fine property. We enjoyed the bar with live music, the beautiful atrium for breakfast and the private social room when we had guests visit. We had cocktails on the patio with friends before dinner. It was a memorable stay with warm and helpful staff and wonderful touches that make this hotel first rate.

Rooms are delightful. Restaurants and shops are nearby. The main asset of the hotel is its staff.
Tired and unsure of where to take our three grandchildren for a meal the front desk jumped into action. They found a restaurant, put us in the house car, and sent us to Logan's Tavern.
I know it is expensive but so are most hotels in DC. The suite for five was not as expensive as two rooms.

Superb
Great location
Very friendly. We rounded off a fantastic 2.5 weeks holiday around the US finishing off in Washington for our last 2 nights and wasn't disappointed.
A 50 year old couple young minded from Yorkshire (England) an immaculate experience in a nice sized and well located hotel "try the cocktails". We had our evening meal in the bar, a beautiful comfortable area complete with piano man. Food was an excellent standard. The bar was for all age groups. If you required a more romantic meal the restaurant is fantastic. For us 50 year olds after a full day walking the streets of Washington too tired for the full meal. Dressed up for the bar and was not disappointed it was brilliant. Will probably never go again, but if we did would not hesitate to stop in The Jefferson.
