“Elegant and homey at the same time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

My husband and I just stayed at this beautiful hotel with our 13 yr old for a sightseeing getaway weekend. We couldn't have picked a better spot! Eric the head concierge helped tremendously with a perfect itinerary and suggested we hire a private guide for an insiders view of DC. Pepe was by far the most engaging and educational guide we have ever used, and he came up with spots we never knew existed. Definitely the highlight. Our room was plush and super clean, with awesome large sized toiletries and an abundance of towels (my personal mark of perfection! Lol!) last but not least was the doorman Ishmael, who always greeted us with a smile and a "welcome home" attitude. Loved loved loved our stay here.

My husband and I got married at this amazing property 10 years ago and came back for our honeymoon. Its one of those places where they remember your name and make you feel very special. we got upgraded to this gorgeous room with special food and champs when we arrived. the new rooftop is soooo much better when we got married there - we are dying to host a great party there soon.

you will not be disappointed with anything here. best bed/linens i have ever slept in.

Dear mfcarroll,

I am pleased that you and your husband came back to celebrate your 10th wedding anniversary with us, and that you had such a wonderful stay once again! We would love to assist you in hosting a terrific party on Top of the Hay sometime soon. Looking forward to welcoming both of you back (perhaps for your 11th anniversary!).

Stayed here for my cousins wedding. The reception was on the rooftop overlooking the white house. Very nice location, and definitely worth the price. The pillows were the right softness, the duvets were comfy, The decor in the room was beautifully balanced, something along the lines of modernity meets old hollywood. The food was outstanding, and the staff was very accommodating. Great location for those who want to go site seeing, as most historical monuments are walking distance. A comfortable and luxurious stay.

Room Tip: choose a room on the higher floors, so you can enjoy a nice view of the white house

We took a flyer on this hotel because of the great online reviews and I'm very grateful to all those who took the time to review their experiences both good and bad. For us, this hotel was a tremendous experience given that we were in Washington to take in the history and architecture. Service was absolutely first rate and staff remembered our names and expedited all requests we had. Breakfast at the Lafayette was consistently very good, and on occasion you will probably see someone well known (we did, but left the man eat in peace).

Someone wrote previously that the noise and view from their room was not good. We were probably in a room similar to what they described as our room faced the side of the hotel just above daily deliveries. Yes, the view is into an office building from this side. Yes there is some noise that begins at approximately 7am. Neither of these things bothered us very much. There is also some noise from the creak of wood when a guest from the room above us moved about. Again, this we felt gave the hotel character, but some may have little tolerance for such small matters. But most probably, these things are related to the type of room and package you reserve. We got a great deal on a Summer in the City package.

Hay Adams, I will definitely be seeing you again.

Dear pladypus,

I am honored to hear that we are your wife’s favorite hotel and I will share your compliments with the team. We always instruct our vendors to be as respectful as possible in the morning with regards our guests, but unfortunately some noise does occur, and I am glad that it did not affect your overall impression of the hotel and our service. Hope to see you back during your next trip to Washington, D.C.!

Sincerely,

Hans Bruland

This is my second time staying at the Hay Adams. The Hay Adams hotel is may be a little more expensive to stay at but it is a great location. Close to the white house the mall and all the sights you want to see. It is also close to a wide variety of vey good moderately priced places to eat and drink.and close to public transportation.
The staff was very helpful. The hotel room was well appointed, however the bathroom a bit small.

This beautiful hotel makes you very welcome. Lovely rooms, gracious service. Plus they have a smoking floor, much appreciated, truly civilized. Breakfast was superlative. You are likely to find yourself a table away from a head of state.
