“Very close to the White House”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014

A few months ago, I and my friends came from Indonesia invited to attend a seminar on Information Technology in Washington DC and get the service to stay at this hotel. Very satisfying to spend a few days here. The location of the hotel is very strategic for tourists to enjoy the beauty of Washington D.C. Very close to the White House just a few minutes walk is not too far to the Metro Station.

Room Tip: I chose a smoking room that I think my friends and others have larger rooms than the non-smoking roo...

I recommend this hotel for travelers with allergies. I have asthma and am allergic to feathers, fragrance sprays, etc. Whenever I travel I call ahead to ask if the hotel can air out a room. Sometimes they accommodate, sometimes they are unable to because the windows are sealed shut, and sometimes they just forget. Anna, the front desk manager, went out of her way to reserve me a corner room (more air flow and the hotel windows do open) and to assure me that the room would be allergy free. It was perfect. Mary and the team in housekeeping did a beautiful job of making my stay comfortable and fragrance-free.

The Capital Hilton is the perfect location to explore the White House and National Mall in Washington DC. The Capital Building (do the tour!) is about a 30 minute walk away, but if you include it in your route down the Mall, there's plenty to see and do along the way.

The hotel itself is spotless and the beds are very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, esp Steve at the check-in desk. A problem with my bill was resolved pretty much immediately.

There is a $30 (+/-) charge to check in before 1pm, or they can hold bags before check-in, or after check-out for no fee.

The bar is pretty quiet (we did arrive during the very bad weather), but the wine is good and the desserts are yum.

Highly recommend.

We had the HUGE and comfortable 'Truman Suite' (w/ his piano) and it was a VERY comfortable and large space, and huge bedroom room. We had thoughtful and excellent maid service, great location for the tourist sites and nice executive lounge w/ VERY helpful concierge. I highly enjoyed our stay here.

Decided on Capital Hilton for location and because I am a Diamond Hilton Honors Member. Decided not to rent a car while in town due to difficulty and cost of parking. It was only a $20 cab ride from DCA (Reagan). Check in was smooth and quick. Even though I was not upgraded due to my Hilton status, was given access to executive floor (10th floor). The room was larger than an average hotel room, the down side was there are absolutely no views except of the other rooms. The rates were reasonable so can not complain. The only small issues I can address are of the executive floor amenities. The continental breakfast was severely lacking, and the same items were served every day. When staying 6 nights, this can be an issue. I did appreciate the access to bottle waters and sodas all day though.

I just took my daughter to DC for a quick trip at the then end of winter break. We had a great time visiting all the sites and the Hilton on 16 & K was a great hotel. I actually had a breakfast meeting in the restaurant and it was was very good also. Pretty convenient to the Metro and accessible to most of the DC sites.

My husband and I stayed here as a leisure stay for his 30th birthday since we had an event in the city. For the price that we paid online through Priceline it was worth the stay. The lobby of the hotel was very nice however the rooms were a little dated. When we first walked in it room smelled a bit but once turned on the air it cleared up a bit. The bed was very comfortable. So again if you are looking to stay for a night or so while you are in the city it is worth it.
