The staff was efficient and friendly. I only had a queen-sized bed, but that was probably because I booked a dirt-cheap rate through Hotwire. Breakfast (via) roomservice was excellent-- a bit pricey, but not brutal.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the location cannot be beat.

I stayed at the Capital Hilton for two nights at the end of April and I was really disappointed what was it had to offer. I am a HHonors Diamond member and upon check-in my status was not recognized and the agent told me that they do not have to adhere to the HHonors policy as it was up to each individual property to decide which perks to provide to customers. However, as we booked a Junior Suite I did not expect any upgrades thinking that the room would be more than adequate. The so called "Junior Suite" was a complete disaapointment - old, with holes, tiny bathroom and facing the back of the hotel. Apparently, no Junior Suites face the street or anything else that looks nice. The staff is the worst that I ever had to deal with at a Hilton hotel - disinteretsed, sometimes rude - and they just don't care when you tell them that paying customers should not be treated this way. Items like shampoo and soap were not provided to us on a daily basis (we had to call and ask ). The breakfast was nice and restaurant staff helpful. The biggest disappointment was, of course, the old room which has not been renovated since the hotel was buillt. This hotel is a a huge disappoinment and a shame on the Hilton family. Not worth your money at all!!!

This was a great location for getting to the heart of the city. Walking distance from the White House and easy access to the Farragut Metro station from which you can get most anywhere easily. The room was large, clean and comfortable for three of us in two queen beds. The only downside was the closet-sized bathroom.

Hotel staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Just be very specific when you ask the concierge for a casual dining recommendation. We were referred to Olives just down the street, and it was not the inexpensive, kid-friendly restaurant we were hoping for. We ate in the hotel restaurant our first night, and it was fine, but not worth eating at again. Other dinner options nearby are limited and upscale, so if you're traveling with kids, do your homework in advance to find places to eat near to where you are sightseeing.

Overall, we were very happy. We get to DC every couple years and have stayed all over the city, and we would definitely go back to this hotel.

The Cap Hilton bills itself as "your luxurious and historical" washington d.c. hotel. It does appear to be old (as the shower that refused to drain properly demonstrated). It is not luxurious. More importantly, they appear to be guilty of some false advertising. On their webpage, under services and amenities, they advertise that they have a fully equipped fitness center. What they fail to mention though is that your $260 a night won't get you in there to work out. If you would like to climb on a treadmill during your stay you will need to pay an additional $20 per day. Buyer beware.

I stayed at the Capitol Hilton which I booked through and online agency. My friend and I were traveling together and I called three times before we came to request that I get a room with 2 beds. On my arrival I was told that they did not have any rooms with 2 beds available and that our room would have 1 queen size bed. I have rarely even heard of a hotel room with one queen. The room was the smallest hotel room that I have ever seen. The lobby and the room had a musty mildewy smell. The room was very warm when we walked in and attempts to set the thermostat were unsuccessful. Engineering had to come to our room twice for that problem so when I realized later that the sink was stopped up I decided just to deal with it. I was planning to sleep on the fold out loveseat as my friend and I don't feel comfortable sleeping together but it was so uncomfortable that I ended up getting a roll away bed. It was fairly comfortable. The food was overpriced. My friend ordered a cheeseburger and fries and a drink through room service and he paid over $30 plus tip. When I returned home I had a hold on my checking account for $250 that took over 4 days to be released. I was not informed of this ahead of time. I will say that the concierge was very helpful and that was one of the main reasons that we chose a 4 star hotel because we did not at all know our way around. All things considered though, I think next time I would choose a 3 star with a spacious room, pool, and fresh smell and just buy a map!

You can't beat the location as you can walk to almost anything you want to see in Washington DC. You are close to the metro and there are always taxi's out front.
