“Great hotel (excessive parking fees)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

This hotel offers great customer service. Employees worked hard to ensure our stay was perfect/ comfortable. It's in the perfect location for shopping, dining and entertainment. Our only complain was paying an additional $6.30 parking tax per day in addition to paying $35 per day for parking. The additional fee was not disclosed till checkout. Parking cost is excessive....this does not include tips paid to the valets for parking/retrieving the car.

Hi dxwcarty,
Thank you for staying with us. I am glad to see that we took care of you during your stay. Friendly, accomodating service is how we separate ourselves from the other great hotels in Washington. As far as the parking fees are concerned, we are competitive with the other hotels in the area. I will be reviewing this feedback with our team so that guests are notified up front what the valet costs and taxes are. Thank you for this helpful feedack.

The Renaissance Dupont Circle is the best kept hotel secret in DC. It is in a great location, within short walks of Georgetown, Dupont Circle and George Washington University and also provides easy access to public transportation. The staff at the hotel is friendly, attentive and among the best I have ever experienced.

This hotel is in the heart of Washington D.C, and is very comfortable. The rooms are clean and spacious and the service is OK. Breakfast is not included. Walk distance of the most important monuments and museums of the city.

I had an overnight stay at this hotel for business. A higher quality Marriott property centrally located. Only a short walk from Foggy Bottom Metro stop, this is definitely more of a boutique style hotel with smaller, but well-appointed rooms. I arrived well before check in, but they front desk was able to find me a room just the same. The bed was firm, but comfortable. Sheets could have used a few more thread counts for this level hotel, but still soft enough. The bathroom was small, but the vanity was appropriately sized and it was easy to move around. The shower was great with excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water. Towels were like the sheets, could have been a bit softer, but still very good. I used room service, which said it would take 25 minutes and they were spot on. Try the braised beef rib quesadillas. Yum!! The television had more than average number of channels including a couple of HBO’s and all of the ESPN’s. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Concierge was very knowledgeable. The lobby/bar had nice seating for relaxing after walking around town. I wish I had been staying longer to enjoy the property more, but I would definitely return.

We stayed here just for one night because our other hotel was booked up on this particular day. We arrived late, but the place was still bustling, so we had no trouble getting help with luggage etc. The front desk staff was always helpful. The rooms were a decent size with plenty of room and outlets. Beds were comfy enough. The gym was small, but the machines were pretty nice, although I had trouble with the channels on one of the machines. We had breakfast the next morning before heading out and found both the food and service to be pretty good for a hotel restaurant. I'd definitely recommend this place for both business or pleasure travel.

Pros: Great location if you're around the G'town - Foggy Bottom area. Lots of places to eat in walking distance. The hotel has a pretty cool set-up and is modern with a old-style hotel feel. Doesn't come off as cheap. The front desk guy, "Asa" was friendly about checking in and signing up for the reward program. The rooms aren't really that big, so maybe not a great place for families, but the room is clean and updated. Hotel gym was above average to most I've been at. Bar/Restaurant downstairs looks like a great place to grab a drink or a meal. Prices are reasonable.

Con: Might be a little off the beaten path if you're working downtown.

Room Tip: Circulator bus will drop you off a few blocks from the hotel.

Pros: Staff helpful and friendly. Room clean and decent size. Good location; took a 15 minute walk to the White House.

Cons: Didn't appreciate being next to the elevator, but apparently that was all that was available, despite Marriott Rewards Gold level. (I think reservation desk was more concerned about getting me into larger room vs location of room.) No mini bar in room, a little inconvenient since my business function was a late event and ended after room service closed for the night.

Keep in mind this is a boutique hotel; I was a little surprised since my previous Renaissance stays have been in bigger hotels.

I had no WiFi issues like previous reviewers.

Hi JFrig,
Thank you for the review and thank you for being a Marriott Gold Rewards Member! We are a boutique style hotel with rooms that are modern and clean, but do tend to run on the smaller side. I think you may have hit the nail on the head. With Marriott Gold Elite Members like yourself, we try to make an effort to place you in rooms that are a little larger. One suggestion I would make is to set up a preference in your Marriott Rewards profile for a room further from the elevator. This will help notify other Marriott hotels to place you in a guest room further from the elevator. Of course, if you would like to reach out to me and send me a message with your Rewards information I can make sure that this does not happen again at our hotel. Thank you for your loyalty to our brand. I hope to see you soon. Take care
