“Great Hotel, Good Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

PROS:
Good Location
Very nice size to rooms for price
Great Value
Near Metro train Stop

CONS:
Room door doesnt automatically close when you enter
Thomas Circle does not have many / any restaurants

OVERALL:
This hotel room size is excellent. Lots of room. The bathroom area is very large. The hotel is only 1.5 blocks north of McPherson Metro stop ( Orange / Blue lines ), but you have a lot of luggage you probably want to take a cab to hotel from airport. Walking distance to the White House, and the quick train ride to Congress. The price for a king size room was great at ~$170 night over inaugural weekend. The Kimpton and Westin down the street were charging $450+ a night. The only down side was our room door didnt shut on its own, and I had to always remember to push the door shut. Restaurants around Thomas Circle are not there or LAME, but if you walk 3 blocks north on 14h there is a great area of restaurants and shops on 14th & P st.
This is a great 3 star hotel. If you "HAVE" to have luxury.. then stay at the Kimpton or Westin near by.

I have stayed at the Washington Plaza hotel a few times over the years and I don't think there is a better hotel deal in D.C. The staff is always very friendly and the rooms are plus size with great decor. The room service is reasonably priced and the food quality is amazing. The internet works great and is free on all devices. This hotel is walking distance from the McPherson Square Metro, all the attractions of DC, Logan Circle (which offers great restaurants), and to all the nightlife of DC. I honestly can't figure out how this hotel consistently is less expensive than other nearby hotels that don't compare. I highly recommend this hotel .

Stayed here for the Inaugural weekend and it could not have been better. From the doorman's friendly greeting to the front desk accomodating our early check-in, to the mountain of luggage that barely fit on the cart to the time we left and forgot something in the room, it was all wonderful. The restaurant was great, room service was fast and hot and delicious and when we arrived home late after the Inaugural Ball they gave us a take out menu for Pizza. Every staff member was friendly and helpful, bending over backward to make our stay memorable.

Room was a bit small, I'd expected a small easy chair but...The furniture was nice, clean - comfortable mattress.
The little balcony was nice; unfortunately, it was too windy to enjoy.
Biggest negative is the walls are paper thin. We could hear every toilet flush and other sounds throughout the night - our neighbor(s) on one side was flushing almost every hour. Finally drifting off to sleep at 6 am only to hear room service delivering, the clatter of food trays, etc. This combined with the external city noise made for a terribly sleepless night.

I appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your recent stay with us. It is encouraging to know that overall, you were pleased with your accommodations. However, I am sorry to hear about the challenges with the noise from the room next door and the room service. I certainly apologize that you were not happy and most importantly, did not get a good night sleep. If there is anything else you'd like to further discuss about your stay please feel free to contact me directly at generalmanager@washingtonplazahotel.com.

Very modern, comfortable, spacious room with friendly and helpful staff. The location was decent - an easy 20 minute walk to most museums. Free wifi, water and computer access and printing in the business centre combined with very reasonable room price made this a great choice and I would definitely stay again.

Good value for money at this time of year. Close to so many of the important touristy places and convenient to the metro. Loved the bar downstairs and the happy hour menu and vibe. Good service and happy employees. pleasant room with a view. Breakfast was also soooo good !
