I stayed at the Washington Plaza this past weekend after finding a great deal for $99/night online. I have taken advantage of similar deals in the DC area in the past, only to end up in a dirty run-down kind of place. I am happy to share that this hotel was not that kind of place.
Upon my arrival the lobby, which was decorated in sort of a vintage 80's style, was super clean and the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. I was shocked when I was taken to my room to find that I had a fantastic view of Thomas Circle and the room was so nice! Not at all what I expected for $99. The bed was so comfortable and the furnishings all seemed new and stylish. Even the carpet looked new.
Parking is $25, but you are allowed to keep your car in there for 24 hours (even after you check out). This allowed me to take my time walking down to visit the Lincoln Memorial, White House and Vietnam Memorial, which is about 8 blocks from the hotel.
I have been gushing about this hotel to everyone since I've gotten back. It is really that nice!
