“Gorgeous modern hotel in great location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2011 via mobile

We stayed here in august after getting a $99 deal through expedia. The hotel was well worth it - beautiful luxurious modern room with a lovely bed and bathroom. It is a very large hotel in a safe area of the city, close to lots of restaurants and bars (and a really great Wholefoods!). The staff are lovely. The rooms may be a little small, but we barely were there other than to sleep. We easily walked to the White House. Nothing bad to say!

My son & I traveled to Washington DC via Amtrak. The train arrived 45 minutes early 6:45 a.m. We took a cab from Union Station to the Washington Plaza. They checked us in early and we really appreciated that. Our room was on the 3rd. floor with a balcony. The view was of Thomas Circle and the pool. We rested for a bit after being on the train 16 hrs. Our room was nicely decorated with a great a/c. The bathroom had a wonderful shower and ample space. We left to explore DC and it was about a 12-15 minute walk to the White House. The Metro is located in McPherson Square which is about 8 minutes away. The pool is wonderful and a lifeguard is present. The pool towels are nice and big. There is drink/food service by the pool which we used on several occasions. The club sandwich is delicious. My son enjoyed the flatbread pizza. The prices were fair. We had a frig. in the room which helped to keep water cold and prepared salads (purchased @ CVS across the street). The hotel breakfast buffet we ate our last day. It was good but I thought a bit overpriced for the selections. The hotel staff was very pleasant and always greeted us when we arrived/left lobby. Taxi's are in front of the hotel if you need one. We would return and recommend this hotel. Great location and price. We stayed 5 days and saw a lot. We toured the White House (write a letter to your rep.), Washington Monument,(reserve via online, no wait) Lincoln Memorial, Crime & Punishment Museum, Smithsonian (Air & Space, American & Natural History, Ford's Theater, Chinatown, Arlington, Nat'l Zoo(saw Panda bears), took the Metro (reasonable prices),Supreme Court (got to see the courtroom) and Nation's Capitol. What a week! And there is more still to see. The Frommer's guide to DC is very helpful. The Metro was great to use and there are people to help if questions. Overall......I did not want to leave. I took 377 photo's. Thanks DC for the pleasant experience and wonderful memories.

We picked this hotel for Washington DC trip. Because of reviews, price and location. Shoudl say that we weren't disappointed. Location is good, we were walking most of the time. Hotel has a buffet breakfast for $15 if I rememebr correctly and undeground parking. Staff was friendly and helpful, wifi worked fine, room was clean. The only thing is that parking garage has maximum clearance is a little bit over 70 inches (178cm), If you have higher vehicle you might get in the parking but would require attendant assistance to get out.

stayed w/ my grandson on 8-22 through 8-24. the hotel staff was responsive. the hotel itself was very clean and the room was wonderful. the pool area was like an oasis in a urban envoirment. the price was for the room met our budget and there was a free washington post delivered every morning. the earthquake made this trip very memorable and i would recommend this hotel to anyone. next time in DC we'll be staying at the 'PLAZA'.

Stayed two nights with my wife at the Washington Plaza. Got it on Hotwire for $129 a night. I'm always weary about booking hotels on Hotwire, since you don't know where you're staying until after you book/pay. Not sure if it would be worth the regular $169+ rates, but at $129 it was fantastic. Clean, modern, Nice - and right in the middle of everything, Near Dupont circle and all the tourist activities downtown. We would recommend it and we would stay there again.

This was out home in Washington for 4 nights as we toured the city.

The check-in service was quick and easy and before we knew it we were up to out room.
The room was very clean and very well presented, has a good bed and a nice view off the pool and thomas circle.

This is in a great spot as you are a short walk from all the museums, monuments and the white house.
There are also many cafe's and restaurants around.

The hotel has a restaurant downstairs we ate there for dinner and breakfast and it was not the best, the meals were a bit bland and they seems to try and do fancy dishes but fail at it.

Other than that this is a great pick if you are looking for a place this is in a great location, has free internet, pool and nice rooms.

We got there at about 7pm on check in. we rode up on motorcycle from charleston, the last leg of our trip. We parked in the underground garage, bypassing the upstairs bellboys. I waited with all of our bags while my husband went to find a rolling baggage cart. He returned with a very helpful young man named Cameron. He promptly assisted us with our baggage and got us to the elevator. This is a feat considering they don't usually bring the carts down the steps into the garage. Thank you cameron!
Cameron did tell us we could book trips through him downstairs when we were settled in. We got to our room and oh my! It was beautiful! I have never seen such a modern room with such class. The huge windows were a plus since I like to look at everything. :)
The beds were super comfy. The TV was on when we got there. the bathroom was immaculate and spotless. I especially liked the in between room before you get to the bathroom. A/C was great in the room!
We proceeded to go book a trip with Cameron. He suggested the DC tour bus and it was fabulous in itself!
The breakfast buffet was good on the two days we had it. It was a little overpriced. I could. Aside from the fancy presentation, I could have gotten similar food at Shoney's. Didn't think it was worth the $15 price. Maybe I'm too cheap!?
I did book on Expedia and got the room at around $110 per night. A bargain for the quality and location!
Pool was nice and clean.
Newspaper at door every morning was a nice touch.

Room Tip: Stately yet affordable!
