My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Palomar from Nov. 5-7, 2006, and we were completely pleased by every aspect of the hotel. The lobby, walkways, and rooms are chic, clean, and classically decorated. The bedding was lush and comfortable. The staff members were incredibly friendly and helpful. From the bellman to the front desk to the concierge to the sommelier, we were treated like we were upper class (and we're actually just a middle-class-20-something couple).

We've stayed at the Hotel Rouge and Topaz on previous trips to D.C. and enjoyed our stays there, as well, but the Palomar is by far our favorite and a step above the others. We just got home tonight and already begun booking our next trip to the Palomar for December!

A few of our faves: the complimentary glass (or glasses, if you like) of wine from 5-6 each night in the lobby, the recommendations of restaurants and night life by the staff, the fuzzy blankets on the beds, L'Occitane bath products, and Mimi's across the street. You MUST stay here... it is a fabulous hotel!!

Just returned from a 2 night stay. The price was a great value for a weekend in DC. The rooms were sleek and cozy at the same time. Lots of space to spreadout in super comfy bed and chairs. Loved curling up in the fabulous faux fur throw.

Bathrooms were spacious, well lit and well equiped.

Had a delicious breakfast in the hotel's restaurant, Urbana.

The front desk was super efficient and friendly and always seemed to be one step ahead of you to see that all of your needs were met.

Metro is 3 blocks up the street, a brisk, 5 minute stroll. Or the bellman will see that a taxi is quickly available if you're conserving energy

Would happily stay here again.

The rooms couldn't be nicer! The bed was heavenly, furniture funky but
comfortable and decor was relaxing. However, some of the staff need a little training:
1. room service walked over my newspapers in the a.m. (bringing the food in
and leaving) each day
2. check room service bill - errors were made
3. help with luggage was called twice, finally lugged everything down myself
4. rec. a memo stating the clocks would be changed (DST) but they were not

Many of the staff were very accommodating and helpful. I was granted a late checkout of 2 pm. The wine and light appetizers each evening is a great touch. The negative issues were outweighed by the positive aspects. I am a Kimpton member and will continue to stay at these hotels.

I stayed at Hotel Palomar for a conference during mid-August. I loved it! The hotel did a superb job of paying attention to detail. My room was well-decorated with comfortable bedding, lush carpets, and even an iHome alarm clock. The bathroom fixtures were contemporary. I had no problems with the staff or front desk, even when I had to check out earlier than I had expected. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to explore Dupont Circle as much as I wanted to, but it was close to DC metro stops which made it very convenient.

We just returned from a weekend at the Hotel Palomar and had a wonderful experience. We arrived just as the complementary wine was being put away, and the staff made a special trip to bring us two glasses of wine -- much appreciated after our flight. Throughout the stay, the staff were warm and helpful.

Most importantly, it was clear that there was attention given to every detail of the hotel. The towels were fluffy, the air conditioning was perfectly adjustable and quiet, the warm comforter on the bed was supplemented by a fuzzy blanket, there were sufficient pillows on the bed, and the hair dryer could be removed from the bathroom.

The rooms were small but well-arranged. There was no accessible plug next to the bed -- an irritant for those of us with laptop computers, but there were plenty of plugs on the table for our camera batteries, 2 phones, and ipod.

The decor was fun and creative.

The location is right next to the metro in Dupont Circle, which makes travel throughout DC easy.

The restaurant was noisy, so we called room service. We received our food fast, it was warm, and it was absolutely delicious. The price wasn't much more than we would pay at the restaurant.

Overall, we were very pleased and, since we come to DC often, we will definitely return to the Palomar.

  • Liked — The attention to detail in the rooms
