We stayed for 7 nights and miraculously didn't switch rooms once. We had one of the one bedroom suites that we booked through the hotel at a $305 rate (booked early). The room had lovely amenities and was sparkling clean. The staff was very nice. We enjoyed the free coffee in the morning and free wine in the afternoon. I think there were many business travelers, which was why it was quiet. The Dupont Circle location was nice - lots of shops and restaurants for every budget - and a 20 minute walk or subway ride to The Mall. Don't miss the Phillips Museum around the corner and Luna Grill for a casual meal. Enjoy.

I love the Kimpton Hotels and everywhere I go, when available, I try a new one. This was our third one in DC (previously we tried the Madera and the Topaz also in the Dupont Circle area). While we liked them all, the Palomar is by far the best. Only one (very little) negative: I am a "Kimpton in touch" member and one of my stated preferences is the "local newspaper AM delivery" and this time they forgot. Not a bid deal though. The room was very spacious. We had been upgraded without even asking. The welcome note from the Manager was, as usual thoughtful and appreciated. The Bottle of water and the Apple waiting with the welcome note were also very nice.

I knew I wanted to stay at the Palomar, but the cheapest rate averaged 250 dollars a night for my 3 night stay. Fortunately I got it on hotline for 120, though I had to make 2 bookings as it didn't come up for the 3 together. A phone call the week before ensured we got the same room throughout, which was a king deluxe. The photos on the website hardly do it justice, it's a beautiful hotel. Also met some lovely dogs in the lift, though I was on one of their pet free floors due to an allergy. The free evening wine is a nice touch, as is the morning coffee.
Dupont Circle is a great location, taking only a few minutes by metro into the main tourist areas. I wanted to be in this area for all the restaurants in the evening, the only problem being trying to choose between them all! Lauriol Plaza is a fantastic Mexican, just a few minutes walk away.
The only problem I found was how busy the hotel was, meaning constant queues for the lifts! Reception was always busy too, despite the 3 staff that attended it. This did mean you couldn't really consult them for advice on local area, as there was always a queue behind you. I'd love to return one day, though I doubt it'll be any less busy!

We got a great deal with this hotel, so we couldn't resist a weekend in DC. If you sign up for the Kimpton club they will email you some great specials.

We love this location right off Dupont Circle, it's about a 3 block walk to the Metro. The neighboorhood is nice and within walking distance of some very nice restaurants. On Sunday there's a great farmers market a couple blocks away.

The staff was very nice, we find it a fairly laid back hotel where they don't take themselves too seriously.

Hello TravelGirl55,
Thanks for staying with us again and coming back. We appreciate it. The location is great and there are some nice restaurants in the area. One of my favorites is just down the road. I am glad you found the farmers market as it is a nice way to stroll about causally on a weekend morning. Thanks for staying and come back again soon!

I spent many hours online searching for the best deal for flight and hotel in DC. This hotel was ranked 1st on Orbitz for best deal and ranked 3rd of 140 hotels on Trip Advisor. Nonetheless, I continued to spend hours researching other hotels before finally deciding on Palomar. The reviews were great and now, having just returned from there today, I can definitely concur. The staff is inviting and accomodating, they will recommend restaurants, make reservations for you, print out directions, etc. The complimentary popsicles and ice water are a nice touch on a hot day. The complimentary wine reception in the lobby from 5-6 each evening was always bustling. Our room was enormous - an "executive king" - must have been 550 sq. feet with an entire wall of floor to ceiling windows. The restaurant was pricey for breakfast, I thought. We did have calamari there one night and it was excellent The bartender, Joe, was wonderful. Dupont CIrcle and the Metro are just up the street. Many have said, but the Metro is the best way to get around - fast, clean and safe. We had lunch at Front Page on New Hampshire St. off Dupone Circle, very good, dinner at James Hobans across the street, just ok. Crepes place across the street was great. A 20-30 minute walk down P street to Georgetown - and it's a great walk by historic homes. We had dinner at Agraria on the waterfront in Georgetown and it was fantastic!
