“Always a great place to stay in DC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

The Palomar has been my family's hotel of choice in the DC area for several years. The staff is friendly, rooms are clean, there's a discount for parking a hybrid (although parking is still too high-- $36 a night WITH the $10 discount), pet-friendly, nice evening reception, and the membership offers perks for loyal customers. Rooms 723 and 725 were roomy and had large bathrooms. Room 703 was roomy but the bathroom was tiny. All those rooms face P Street and were quiet enough. We enjoyed the bagel place across the street, Le Pain Quotidien just down the block, and the Dupont Italian Kitchen on R Street at 17th. Making dinner reservations is a good idea. Good spots are crowded in DC.

“Excellent stay, great value!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012 via mobile

What a great hotel, the rooms were clean and oversized and the staff was amazing ! Would definitely visit this property again, will keep Kimpton properties in mind for future trips. Very dog friendly to include water dishes and a bowl of dog cookies. Coffee and tea offered in the mornings in the lobby and a manager's reception in the evening. Made us feel right at home, and the staff was excellent!

“Palomar Hotel---Great DC Dog-Friendly Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

We so appreciate Kimpton Hotels and their dog-friendly policies. The Palomar Hotel hosted us on Christmas Eve and Christmas night, making my wife and me, as well as our Labrador, Zeus, most welcome. Rooms are spacious and comfortable; nice fitness area; welcoming lobby with coffee in the morning and wine in the late afternoon. The whole staff was fantastic (especially Clayton, Cordelia, and Nick at the front desk). The hotel restaurant, Urbana, is wonderful for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Dupont Circle area is great for walking, with many conveniences close by. Take a stroll down Embassy Row---beautiful architecture. We look forward to our return to the Palomar.

Room Tip: Try to get deluxe room with separate dressing area, complete with exercise bike and second flat scre...

“Wonderful experience. First rate!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

We just returned from a 5 night stay. The staff was extremely accommodating and quite forgiving of our naughty little dog. The happy hour was a great way to meet other guests. Besides wine and hot toddies, there were crackers, an assortment of olives and even small pizza bites one night. In the morning we enjoyed coffee, tea and hot chocolate with whipped cream, chocolate curls and mini marshmallows ( a big hit with the kids). There were lots of families and a good mix of couples and singles. Our accommodation was in the Deluxe one bedroom suite on the 6th floor which was quiet facing a parking lot (no view). The bed was extremely comfortable with a light down comforter that I looked forward to every night. It was a relaxing time for all of us and one of the friendliest, well thought out hotels we've stayed at in a long time.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room ask to face the rear of the hotel.

“Dog friendly hotel and overall great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

The hotel does many things nice and neat. The following is a list we think important:

1. Dogs are welcome without extra charge whatsoever.

2. The staff is very nice and helpful.

3. There are enough outlets for computers and usb devices.

4. The wifi is fast enough and does not disconnect you once a while.

5. The cleaning staff does not take away used towels as long as you hang them. Many hotels tell you to hang the towels if you want to continue to use them. But they invariable take them away! This is the very first hotel that keeps its words.

6. The in-room safe is the largest we've ever seen to fit several computers easily.

7. The location is excellent. Dupont Circle is in general a good location but this hotel on P Street is relatively quite with a dozen restaurants on the same block and many more in 5 minutes of walk.
