The Palomar has been my family's hotel of choice in the DC area for several years. The staff is friendly, rooms are clean, there's a discount for parking a hybrid (although parking is still too high-- $36 a night WITH the $10 discount), pet-friendly, nice evening reception, and the membership offers perks for loyal customers. Rooms 723 and 725 were roomy and had large bathrooms. Room 703 was roomy but the bathroom was tiny. All those rooms face P Street and were quiet enough. We enjoyed the bagel place across the street, Le Pain Quotidien just down the block, and the Dupont Italian Kitchen on R Street at 17th. Making dinner reservations is a good idea. Good spots are crowded in DC.
