“I HEART the Hotel Rouge!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2008

This hotel is sexy, swanky and affordable! What a great combination!

I love the decor of this place, a nice combination of bright reds and zebra print. The rooms are very plush with extremely comfy king size beds with amazing linens!

The highlights of the stay included: the "Hang Over Breakfast" of cold pizza and Bloody Mary's, the very cute mini bar, the nightly wine reception and having a fun cocktail lounge just downstairs!

The staff literally takes care of everything! When we check into our room on the second visit to the Rouge we had a slight problem with the room and they not only fixed the issue quickly but also upgraded to a better room for the trouble!

This is truly a gem in DC.

This centrally located hotel is a winner! The accomodations are stylish, pleasant, and comfortable, but what *really* made our stay so great was the fantastic people who work there! Their Number One mission is to make guests feel at home. They truly care!! It's so rare to have this kind of experience these days... We cannot say enough about our beautiful 3-day stay. A gem!

Final leg of our East Coast trip of Boston, New York and Washington.

Good attempt at being a boutique hotel with a reasonable price tag. Good location in quiet part of town (near the embasseys) and a short walk to Du Pont circle for the Metro. The Washington Metro is the best underground I have ever used. Clean, bright, modern and spacious and very safe.

We loved our room which had two queen sized beds and a 1950s feel to the decor. The minbar even had maps and condoms...

Breakfast is not much to write home about - but was adequate.

Hotel Rouge was a very nice end to a fantastic trip.

I stayed at the Hotel Rouge over Memorial Day weekend, 2007. The staff members were friendly. The room was large, very comfortable, and super chic. The red wine happy hour was a nice touch. Location was good. I was able to walk to DAR Constitution Hall for a concert and to the Mall for some sightseeing quite easily. I will definitely stay here again.

  • Liked — The over all look and feel of the hotel and room, great atmosphere
  • Disliked — Can't think of anything I didn't like

Just got back from a 2 day stay at the Rouge. It was the first boutique hotel that I have stayed at and I was impressed. The staff was helpful and there was a free happy hour of Red Stripe beer and red wine that I enjoyed. The two bed room I stayed in was very spacious. The location is good. Only a 5-10 minute walk from the Dupont Circle area and a 10-15 min walk from Adams-Morgan.

The only problem I had was that a mouse appeared in my room on our last day. Due to the cold weather and the placement of food in the room, this cannot be avoided. I alert the staff to the problem and they took care of it immediately..

Just got back from a four night stay at The Rouge. Loved everything about it. First, I must say that I got an incredible deal being that it was low season, which is really the perfect time of year to see DC.
The hotel is really hip with it's decor from huge leather chairs to low red felt booths. They offer a complimentary happy hour that we never missed. It was a great way to split up our day. See museums during the day, take a wine break and a snooze and then go back out. Short walk to Metro about 4 blocks or 5 minutes to metro and we used it to go just about everywhere. Our first evening there we walked to the Lincoln Memorial & the WW2 Memorial. PERFECT! Great way to stretch after traveling.
The food at The Rouge was creative and fairly priced. I plan on looking at other Kimpton properties for future travel.

I booked the Hotel Rouge through the hotel's website [--], and I took advantage of a sizable discount (15-30% off if you pay in advance). So, I loved the price!

Great location - as most note on this site...walking to distance to White House, shopping areas, restaurants, pubs.

Decor was hip, cool, and RED. The photos already posted on this site depict the hotel well. If you're looking for a classic hotel, this isn't for you.

The room was spacious - bed was comfortable - animal print robes were provided - and free wi fi!

I was extremely pleased with the Hotel Rouge and would definitely stay again.
