“Spotless, trendy, professional”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2014

I stayed a few times at the Park Hyatt before renting a place in DC. What a wonderful hotel. Location is super convenient near the business area but also 10 minutes walk from George Town (and its competitor, the Four Seasons, which does not have a buffet breakfast, oops :)...).
The decor is a mix of modern and warm colors. Entrance staff is professional (can be a bit stiff maybe). Rooms could have more light but they are so nice that i do not mind, and the bathroom is pure luxury.

The breakfast (at the blue duck restaurant) - a key feature as far as i am concerned in hotels - is buffet style proposing very good quality products. The Blue Duck restaurant (for lunch or evening) is pricey, so only for a treat / romantic occasion. Open kitchen close which i find nice and entertaining.

The Park Hyatt bar proposes some cheaper options (including salad and a very good hamburger), and the table against the window have a view on peaceful small garden next to the road, all this in a wooden environment.
There is an indoor pool and a big Jacuzzi, as well as a small gym.

All this makes a stay at the Park Hyatt very enjoyable. Oh!, and they lend bikes for free as well!
More recently (April 2014) I was there for a congress. Again staff professional (a waiter found me a blackberry charger in minutes), rooms on the lower floor spacious and delicious food.

We've stayed here several time over the last few years. The location is nice, and an easy walk to Georgetown. Unfortunately, the rooms are in need of an upgrade. We had a 2 room suite with a very large bathroom. The space was great but the room needed to be updated. The AC didn't work and needed to be repaired while we were there. Lastly, I was seriously disappointed in the Blue Duck Tavern restaurant. We had breakfast there for 4 days and dinner one night. Each meal was disappointing with flavorless food. I used to love this hotel! I wish it was better.

In the heart of Washington , lies the Park Hyatt hotel . At the intersection of 24 M streets directly across the street for the Fairmont Hotel . The entry lobby invites you into the reception area where staff very efficiently check you in , and immediately ask if they can arrange anything for your stay . They guide you to the bank of elevators (3) across from a small but pleasantly decorated bar . The famous shaker styling and local woods are evident in the decor . Rooms are nicely decorated and provide for comfortable accommodations for the most de earning guest . If in hotel meals are your choice than you will not be disappointed in the presentations in the restaurant . if dinning out is chosen there are significant options across the street or a short walk down M street into Georgetown . You will find yourself surrounded by both quick snack vendors , cafe's and restaurants serving the full lunch and dinner menu . The Park Hyatt is a short cab ride from many of the public museums in the city . Take advantage of the help from the curteous concierge and make your stay even more memorable .

Room Tip: We usually book a king and were pleasantly pleased that the room over the entrance was not noisy in...

I stayed here for business for 1 night and booked via Amex’s Fine Hotels and Resorts Program. Overall, the Park Hyatt is a lovely choice for a business or leisure stay in the DC area. If you plan on sightseeing, note that the hotel isn’t necessarily in a central location, but that being said, it’s not inconvenient --- they also have a house car that will take you to places within a small radius of the hotel, which helps.

Service is spotty. Don’t expect service befitting a five star hotel --- although good, it lacks a sense of refinement and polish: no help with luggage, confusion over what’s part of the Amex package, and a concierge that seemed to lack a certain caring, pampering style. For example, I booked a massage for the morning and I waited ten minutes outside of the spa room without the masseuse arriving. I went to the concierge and asked them where the masseuse was, rather than apologizing, he made it seem as if I was at fault or the one mistaken “Oh, I just spoke to her, she’s there” (I didn’t even bother saying that’s impossible since I arrived at the spa room 5 minutes early and then waited 10 minutes and she certainly hadn’t arrived during that time). Or when I tried to book one of their specialty treatments available during cherry blossom season, the concierge had no idea what I was talking about even though it was listed directly on their website… (and, btw, the massage was only okay… don’t expect a real “spa” experience. The “spa room” is basically a room by the gym.)

The rooms are lovely --- clean and minimal, but inviting; very tastefully decorated and furnished (although some of the furniture was starting to look a little worn). Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spectacular --- large, with a huge walk in rain shower and a lovely soaking tub.

Room service was fast and efficient. Breakfast at Blue Duck Tavern was tasty, although service was slow – it was difficult to even find someone to flag down to take my order or ask for my check.

The gym was pretty good for a hotel gym; enough equipment for a good workout; and it looks pretty new and clean. The complimentary bottled water was nice. Didn’t use the pool facilities, but it looked clean and well maintained.

I would certainly recommend this hotel for someone looking for a comfortable place to stay in DC. But certainly don’t expect an exceptional experience…

I used to like this hotel, but our recent visit was disappointing. The rooms are in need of updating and the staff while still good used to be even better. Also, the rooms are very dark (small windows) and the lighting is insufficient. This was more like a Hyatt than a Park Hyatt. I will stay elsewhere the next time I visit DC.

I stayed here for a weekend back in February and the hotel offered everything that I expected and more. Very attentive staff, clean rooms and great location. Whether staying in DC for business or pleasure, I definitely look forward to returning to this hotel.

Overall nice stay in parlor suite, Georgetown location close to major amenities, helpful concierge, pretty reasonable prices at Blue Duck Tavern. Noticed on this last trip to the USA how food seems to taste more salty. Prime Rib (2 locations) was very good and well recommended. Couldn't find the pool/gym! Wasn't even sure if there's one... Ran out of time so no longer pertinent. Probably not the most memorable Park Hyatt on this planet, but quite adequate overall.

Room Tip: Rather limited for views.
