“Washington's Premier Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2012

I've stayed at the Ritz, Mandarin and Four Seasons. There is a reason I come back to Park Hyatt: the rooms, the service and the Blue Duck Tavern. Let's start with the rooms. I was upgraded to a wonderful Premier Park Deluxe room which has an all-star bathroom that you want to spend your day in. The deep soaking tub and the walk in shower are sublime. The bed is heavenly and the sitting/office area aids in completing late night business/work. The service is top notch- everything is executed perfectly from the moment you step into the hotel. Blue Duck Tavern offers excellent farm to table fair paired with a near perfect vodka martini.

The company I worked for held a very technical conference at the Park Hyatt in Sept. 2011. I have worked with many hotels over the years planning conferences and the Park Hyatt exceeded my expectations and WOWed me, my co-workers and the conference attendees. The entire hotel staff is very attentive to the guests' needs and goes above and beyond to provide top notch guest service. We ate hotel food for 3 days and each meal was better than the last. The meeting rooms have just been renovated prior to our arrival and are nicely laid out. The sleeping rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are totally cool... the shower head comes down from the ceiling! I recommend this hotel for meeting planners looking for a venue in the D.C. area. The location is good, short walk to Georgetown.

I stayed at the Park Hyatt Washington D.C. recently for a quick 3 day getaway. I used Hyatt points for the entire stay and was pleasantly surprised to receive an upgrade to a suite upon check-in.
The PH location is approx. mid-point between Georgetown and Dupont Circle districts - approx. a 4-5 block walk to either district. Within the immediate area of the PH there are multiple other 5 star hotels and fine dining - so LOTS of options for eating. That being said, the Blue Duck Tavern restaurant at the PH is fantastic albeit a bit pricy. To get to the National Mall, museums, etc., it is a good 20-25 minute walk - note that there is a Metro station approx. 3 blocks from the PH.
With the upgrade I have to say the suite rivaled any 5-star room that I've stayed anywhere in the world with: spa-style bath and rain shower, large dressing area, nice big windows, and a very soft (not to my liking...) bed. There were robes and slippers, a mini bar stocked with Dean and Deluca snacks, 2 flat screen tv's. The room was clean, well decorated and very comfortable.
The fitness center/spa suite is located on the mezzanine level and is a bit hard to find - with a trip to the 3rd floor on the elevator followed by a long walk to the end of the corridor only to go down the fire stairs 1 level and through a nondescript door into the actual pool/fitness center. The center itself is very nice - excellent equipment and weights, pool and jacuzzi.... just a very strange location within the hotel.
The staff throughout the hotel from check-in to waitstaff to room service attendants to spa staff were just thoroughly professional, efficient and just very nice. The staff made the stay very worthwhile.
I did receive 1 treatment in the spa - the room is very nice, good music and amenities. The therapist was prompt, professional and very attentive to my overall comfort and experience.
My only complaint at all regarding the PH is the price of food and drink - from the $10 mini apple pie (which was FANTASTIC) to the $15 per glass of wine - it was just a bit on the high end.. but then again it is DC and it is a 5 star hotel, so it is to be expected.
This hotel seemed to cater primarily to business and government people, but as a leisure traveler I had no problems during the stay.
Overall I highly recommend the Park Hyatt Washington DC as a great option- just remember you will be paying 5 star prices for 5 star service and amenities - which at this hotel is totally worth it.

Room Tip: street facing rooms will get the occasional "sirens in the middle of the night" - normal f...

I have tried about 7 or 8 different hotels in DC, and the Park Hyatt is the best. Elegant, serene, understated. And incredible professional service. The door staff were particularly good - incredibly polite and extremely attentive. The restaurant were able to accomodate me at short notice even though they must have dreaded the thought of a single female. Very little to find fault. As other reviews have mentioned, the sound proofing could be a bit better, and possibly the addition of extra free weights in the fitness centre.

When we arrived at the hotel from our flight into Reagan-National, we arrived well before the normal check in time. The front desk clerk was friendly and very professional, and even had our room ready for us to go up to, with our bags already being sent up by the bellman.
When we arrived in the room, the rollout bed I requested was waiting in the room along with sugar cookies I requested from the hotel's fantastic restaurant, the Blue Duck Tavern, which were given complimentary to us. The bed in the room was very comfortable except for the rollaway bed which I could feel every spring inside.
Since I had booked a parlor suite the room had 1.5 bathrooms, useful for our son who was traveling with us. The bathroom was very modern with a nice rainshower shower and a large soaking tub with bath salts. Extra amenities like free bottled water and designer toiletries from Soho in NYC were a nice touch.
The room is furnished very simplistically with the bare minimum of furniture. My only gripe with this minimalist theme was the lack of outlets for plugging in electronics, especially at the work desk in the living room.
Probably the greatest feature about this hotel is it's restaurant the Blue Duck Tavern. This restaurant is probably one of the most creative dining establishments in the country, on par with blue hill in NYC. There was a reason I specifically requested the sugar cookies for my arrival, it's because their pastry chef is extremely talented. The restaurant itself is a real power scene at lunch time with congressmen and senators having lunches with their staff or lobbyists. One evening, I ordered room service and it was just as good as eating downstairs as the waitstaff that came up to our room even set up the dining table like in the restaurant instead of leaving a cart juggle plates on.
One really great deal is the AAA breakfast rate which gives you breakfast for two adults in the lounge downstairs (which shares the same kitchen as the blue duck tavern). I even saw some very notable people at breakfast some mornings, specifically someone who was very high ranking in the Obama administration but moved back to Illinois for a better job in the past year.
Overall this hotel is a truly fine establishment that will cater to your every need, and should not be overlooked if one needs a place to stay in DC.

Room Tip: None of the rooms really have a view, so there is no need to pay extra for a room looking out at th...

Wonderful experience, amazing spacious room.

Mosre importantly, the Hyatt hospitality experience is world leading and this hotel very much plants the stick in the mud

Ross (Duty Manager) was excellent and very helpful

One small niggle, sound proofing between some rooms is not brilliant. Make sure you request a quiet room away from the street

Looking forward to coming back for more

Room Tip: away from the street and in a quiet part of building
