My wife and I stayed at the Omni for five days. Our first vacation without the kids.

The hotel was beautiful. Very elegant.

Our room was very spacious and quiet. A big plus. We are Omni Club Members so we recieved complimentary breakfast each morning. This was very appreciated since everything in DC is overpriced (except the blue point oysters which are priceless). If you aren't a member, apply. It's free and it's the first hotel membership that we have that really came in useful.

The hotel had complimentary highspeed wireless internet so bring your laptop. The pool area was very nice although the hot tub wasn't working. You can get a cold beer and a hot snack without leaving the pool area.

My only complaint is the hotel is pretty far out. Fortunately there is a nearby Metro stop. There are a lot of restaraunts nearby, but they close early. Had a tough time getting a late night meal (after 9:30).

If you stay at the Omni and you fly into Reagan National, cab it to the hotel. Don't take the shuttle the hotel recomends. You'r on the shuttle for quite a while (the hotel is one of the last stops). Also, the cab actually turned out to be cheaper than the shuttel.

This was a great hotel.

Just back today from 4 days, 3 nights in Washington DC. We stayed at this lovely hotel. The staff were all courteous and helpful. I self-parked the car ($22 per night). Very simple to get in and out of parking area (you get a card and scan the bar code to get in and out). Check-in took 2-3 minutes. We were given a room on 6th floor overlooking parking area and the Taft bridge; Actually a very nice view; We had a corner room which had 6 windows (included the 1 in bathroom). The room was very clean and nicely decorated; The bed (We had a King) was comfortable. The bathroom had a pedastal sink and older tub, but were clean and functional. Remember this hotel was built in the 1930's so the updating they have done is well suited to the structure of the hotel. The air worked fine (There was a temperature controlled thermostat). There was a mini bar fully stocked, but we did not use it. The morning complementary beverages were great along with a daily paper; We got the Sunday (complete with ads) Washington Post. The turn-down service in the evening was also a welcomed benefit; We enjoyed the chocolates; This things are offered just for being a select guest; (Sign up before you go). The area around the hotel was peaceful and we enjoyed a late evening stroll over on Conn. Ave. (Just a very short stroll away). Several Restauarants here, Indian, Chinese, Cajun, Bistro, Mediterrean, French, Italian; We actually went down Conn. Ave on the other side of Dupont circle to a couple of Restaurants (La Tomates is very nice). And walking around this area is nice too. Several embassies on the side streets. And yes also by the hotel is a McDonalds and a CVS. We did take the metro (Woodley-Zoo Station is very closeby the hotel) We went to China town and the Smithonian this way; We did walk up to the zoo, about a 15 min walk up the incline (we do walk slow) and the zoo is harder to traverse it's incline (it is very hilly), but we saw the Panda Bears. Overall, we enjoyed the Omni Shoreham very much. It made our visit to our nation's capital a memorable one. You will enjoy staying here.

We traveled by train and stayed here for four nights at the end of July. A 16$ taxi from Union Station for four people. Very polite check in, $189.00/night with breakfast. Could not find lower internet rate talked about on this site. Large room, walk in closet, dressing room and bath, with balcony. We could see the Washington Monument from our room. Bath was small, but this is a 1930's hotel, it's part of the charm. Some people like nothing better than to complain. Great beds. Clean. Beautiful pool area. Consierge was great, had on and off showers, lent umbrellas to all of us. Booked tours, made reservations etc.
-The location is a great feature of this hotel. One short block to Metro, $1.35 takes you anywhere, and we used it to travel everywhere! Indian, Chinese, Cajun, Italian, Mexican, Japonese plus a CVS and McDonald's all within two blocks of the hotel.
-My girls and I had High Tea at the Four Seasons in Georgetown, 5 min cab ride away, that was fabulous. Questions happily answered by e-mail.

I just spent 3 days at the Omni and got some of the best sleep of my life. It was my first time to DC and I had plenty to see but only got to see a fraction since I just couldn't get my lazy butt out of the comfortable beds! I know that sounds silly but it really had an impact on my overall experience. As for the rest of the hotel...very handsome building in a lovely area of town. Nice grand lobby and the oversized rooms are a definite plus, although they could be decorated a little nicer. Not that I spent much time in the hotel(aside from sleeping), but I found it to be very pleasant. Got it for $80 a night on Priceline--a great value for the price. I'd stay there again.

My husband and our 2 teenagers stayed at the Omni for 5 nights in July 2004. We were very pleased with our accomodations and with the hotel in general. The service we received was always prompt and pleasant. Our room was very large and was very clean. We never noticed a musty smell as some other reviews had mentioned and our A/C worked perfectly.

They have a beautiful pool area. The kids enjoyed a swim every night even though the pool is only 3 feet deep.

The hotel is VERY close to the Metro and to several restaurants.

We had only paid slightly over $100 per night for our room and at that rate, I would absolutely recommend this hotel.

No complaints at all.....
