“Very nice for good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago NEW

Very nice room and hotel. Courteous and cheerful staff. Quickly responded when a light bulb was needed. Easy walk to DuPont Circle subway. Valet parking was $34. Continental breakfast pricey. Would definitely stay here again.

I was a bit worried when I checked in - the lobby is dated and a little shabby, and the front desk attendant seemed distracted.

The room, however, was a pleasant surprise. It was definitely on the small side and I wasn't a big fan of the carpet, but everything else was lovely, as well as spotless. It was a shame that I was a solo traveler, since it had a romantic vibe and a four poster bed. The bedding in particular was great, and exceeded my expectations for a three start hotel. L'occitane products were nice, too.

The tv was mounted on the desk, unfortunately. Since I had a lot of work to do and needed the desk space, I asked the hotel if they would remove the big screen tv, which was cumbersome. They seemed happy to do so. The hotel also has a free wine hour, which is a great way to meet other guests and chit chat and get the "social" aspect you usually only get in youth hostels and rarely get in hotel chains.

Combined with the great location (I walked everywhere i needed to be) I can't imagine a better place for the price.

Dear augustremulous, Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to write such a wonderful review. We were thrilled to read your initial worries were alleviated and we exceeded your expectations in so many areas. It was great to read that you loved the bedding, the nightly wine hour and the L'Occitane amenities we provide for our guests. We are sorry that the TV was in your way on the desk but we will mounting all the TV's to the walls this year, so you shouldn't have an issue on your return trip. Thank you, again, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the very near future.
Kindest Regards,

Another little hidden jewel in the very expensive DC market.
We love the hotel so comfortable and cozy.
This time we had a king bedroom with a small terrace.
The rooms are pleasantly decorated in back and white, all room have refrigerators and an espresso machine.
Great bath amenities and the rooms very clean and maintained. Love the wine hour every evening and the staff are super nice, friendly and attentive.
We visit DC 2-3 times a year; just to think we are going back to this hotel makes me very happy.
I’m a Hilton person, this is the only hotel I will stay in DC; have fun.

Room Tip: If you can get a King room with a terrace will be great.

I really enjoyed my stay at The Normandy hotel in december 2014. First, the location is very nice, in a quiet location close from all embassy and consulate (very nice to walk around). The subway/metro is close, and the Georgetown district is close and very pretty and enjoyable. Then, the staff is very nice. The rooms are fancy and well equipped (wonderful beds and pillow!). The hotel is charming and fancy. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2014

I stayed here for 3 nights in October as a solo traveller and had a lovely time. The front of house staff were extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming. The hotel is on a quiet residential street 5 min walk from Dupont Circle where i found numerous restaurants, coffee shops, a great bookstore and a lovely Farmers Market on a Sunday. the Metro station is very swift to get you to the National Mall and places of interest.

i felt very safe walking to this hotel at night on my own, the are and location were good.

the room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. the only thing i would say for my room is that the windows faced the courtyard (ground floor) where people were sitting having breakfast. so i could never open up my blinds so had not much natural light, just the light from the lamps etc. that was a little disappointing. everything else was great.

If i came back to Washington i would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: not ground floor facing courtyard.

Great location if you need to be by Dupont Circle. All staff is helpful and know the area. One of the Big Bus pick up locations is just accross the street. Quiet at night. And they offer breakfast for a reasonable price.
