“Great Location. Almost Perfect...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2012

I always rely on Trip Advisor for reviews before I travel, so I read a ton about this hotel. I read good things about it. I figured why be selfish. Write a review. I REALLY enjoyed this hotel. It was well appointed, very clean and easy to find. 1) the staff (front desk, concierge, bell desk, etc) were very friendly and extremely helpful. 2) the room was nice (a bit small, but expected), very clean and nicely appointed. As other people posted the air/heat system is VERY loud. But I just turned the fan on it down and got it to a reasonable level. 3) LOCATION! I barely got to hear the air/heat noise because I was out walking ALL DAY! This place is about as good a location as you can get. I walked to restaurants, walked to Brooks Brothers, walked to the Capital Mall and White House, Walked to Dupont Circle, and on and on and on. This is a great location because it's a nice walk everywhere and a short cab ($10 or so) to every great neighborhood I needed to visit. If you want to visit DC in great weather and walk everywhere, this is the place. 4) The price was excellent. I didn't mind going downstairs to use the internet when I needed (free WiFi in the lobby).

Overall I am very pleased with this hotel, and have booked it again for the next DC trip. I work with a political organization at the Capitol Station. I can walk to Foggy Bottom station and get there in 15 minutes. Great hotel!

“Coulda been five stars, if ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012

This one is a goodie with top-flight service, comfortable rooms, and a great location. So let's get the 'but' out of the way ....

But how in the world, in this day and age, can a place charge $12.95 a day for wireless?! Let that one sink in. The place is modern, full of comfort, great staff and THAT. Stop it, Marriott, please. That's flat gouging.

But the staff makes the place. Very helpful, always ready with a warm greeting, and there to make sure your stay is comfortable. Well done, staff.

The rooms are standard Marriott fare, so certainly no complaints there. The gym is decent, not great, and I never did make it to the pool.

Metro stations are within walking distance, and there are plenty of restaurants, stores, Starbucks, etc. about.

So get rid of the wireless fee and you are No. 1, Washington Marriott. Do that, I will return over and over again.

“Comfortable.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2012

I stayed for 4 nights in the business area of the hotel. The room was clean and nicely maintained daily. All contacts with the staff were pleasant and we were always kindly greeted when returning or were asked if we needed a cab when departing,. There are a couple close stations for the metro. A CVS, Walgreens and Starbucks are all very close. They are either at the corner, around the corner or at the end of the block and across the street. Tons of restaurants. DC Cupcakes is a pleasant mile walk into Georgetown. I wish Wi-Fi had been free. I also did not see an onsite restaurant which would've been nice. The coffee in the room left quite a bit to be desired. I also wish there would"be been a fridge in the room. Be aware stores charge 5 cents for a bag. The hotel business center charges for computer use and copies so we had to wait to check in at the airport.

“Pick this Mariott when in DC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2012

I have stayed at several Mariotts, but for the value and location, this one is a good choice. The lobby and bar area are spacy and popular, although they roll up the carpet early on weekday nights by 10 or so. My room was clean and even had a ittle separate dining room. Service was exceptionally friendly, creating sort of a community or market atmosphere. From Reagan, take the blue line towards Largo and use the Foggy Bottom station, walk just a few blocks.
