“Surprisingly Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012

Stayed at the JW Marriott for a conference. The location is great, even though I am not in DC as a tourist on this trip. It is walking distance from many great restaurants in downtown as well as attractions. It takes a ride or two on the elevators to acclimate yourself, but once I did, I found the the elevators to be efficient. The housekeeping service was extremely courteous and quick to respond to a request and the front desk followed up to make sure I received the item I needed in a timely fashion. I would stay here again. The fitness facilities are not very large given the size of the hotel but it has a pool and separate hot tub.

Stayed at the JW last week for business. You cannot beat the location. It is easily accessible to pretty much everything. We were on the 4th floor and had a partially blocked view with the side of the wall. The room was pretty small. I shared the room with one person but couldn't imagine cramming a family of four into the room. It would be quite snug. The furnishings were nice but the room and bathroom were tiny! All in all it was perfect for what we needed! I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is beautiful with a comfortable lobby and beautiful rooms.

The staff lacked any customer service training and were flat rude.

The room had no fridge unless you put your food on top of their weighted areas, YES weighted. So if you placed your water inside you would be charged. Also the dry food was placed on a weighted tray that was directly infront of the electrical outlets and internet connections (so if you tug too hard cha ching you are CHARGED).

All locations in the hotel closed early and any food locations that were open were crazy expensive.

Best of all, there was no cell phone connection in the rooms and you had to walk outside to use your phone (or pay outrageous charges to make a call), also the rooms had no wi fii AND if you went to the lobby to use the wi fii it was spotty.

For such an expensive hotel many of the negative features made it a huge disappointment and left me with a cheap feeling.

We loved this hotel. The location can't be beat - right on Penn Ave, in the middle of everything. Our room was comfortable and spotless, with a great view of the city. My son loved the pool, the breakfast buffet and wondering around the beautiful lobby. We got a great weekend price and will definitely stay here the next time we're in DC

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor - more likely to have a view.

I choose Marriotts because of their very clean rooms and immaculate bedding. There is no wondering when the bedspread were cleaned, the white duvets and pillowcases speak for themselves. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. Yes, the bathroom is small, but how much time are you going to spend in the bathroom when you're in D.C.? The lobby is very impressive, beautiful chandliers and flower arrangements. The whole staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the location can't be beat.

We stayed here for a couple of nights on holiday. The location is excellent, so close to everything that it was very easy to walk to all the main attractions. The room was good, clean and as one would expect, and the view from our window was brilliant too, overlooking the monuments. Services can be expensive, but that is the issue with all major city hotels.

Room Tip: The top corner rooms have great views

Great location for the price. Can't get any closer to the monuments and museums. Also close to a number of metro lines.

Room itself was average. We specifically asked for an outward facing room and our room had a sliver of a window, which coincidently partially faced a wall. The only way to get a "real" window is to pay up.

Like the other reviews mentioned, this really was not "JW" quality, but for the location, it can't be beat.

Room Tip: if you want a room with any type of view (or natural sunlight) you have to pay for a higher level ro...
