My husband and I stayed at the Hyatt for a weekend getaway to D.C. Priceline chose our hotel for us, and initally we had some concerns regarding the location based on what we had read on tripadvisor, but found that we shouldn't have worried. We paid significantly less than the rack rate for the room.
We arrived at 10:30 on Friday night, found street parking nearby (we are NYC'ers so street parking is a way of life!) and walked the 2-3 blocks to the hotel. The area is lit by street lights, and while there isn't much going on as there are no nearby hotels or bars, it really didn't alter how we felt about our safety during our walk. There is also a fire station across the street which did not bother us at all. We had no noise pollution from it.
We actually found the location to be the hotel's greatest asset - we were there to enjoy the National Mall, the monuments and the museums, most of which were a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. No complaints there. Being a weekend, we didn't have to worry about moving our car.
The hotel is large in its size, but the check in line moved efficiently. The hotel room had plenty of space and was well-appointed - what you would expect from a four star hotel. The only minor complaint we had was the bathroom had only a shower (a bit strange for U.S. bathrooms) with inadequate shelving in the shower for toiletries. Not a major complaint.
The hotel is not near any type of night life, but we found D.C. very easy to navigate and parking was never a problem.
Overall, we had a good experience and wouldn't hesitate to return, but only if we good find another great price via Priceline. It was what you would expect from a Hyatt, no more no less. Positives were the location to the National Mall, negatives were lack of nearby dining options.
