“Overall, a wonderful hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

This hotel is only two blocks from the capitol building and walking distance to the train, subway, and many tourist sites. The staff was outstanding, every single person was attentive, kind, and professional. I stayed five nights for business. I asked for a quiet room and was put away from the elevator and ice machine. However, I did get stuck over the loading dock which was very noisy during the day. Ask for a room up high. There are restaurants in the area but they are hard to find unless you have directions. I recommend this property.

“Nice enough... but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

I recently spent 3 nights here for business. Everyone was pleasant. The room okay except for the dirty iron (the hotel paid to have a shirt cleaned after the iron stained it) and the terrible water pressure in the shower. I actually thought about going to the workout facility just to get a good shower. In addition, the fixtures were loose.

The bed was great! The room was clean. Location good! Food at the restaurant was very good... had dinner there 1 night after long day at the Capital. Very good dinner! Bar was nice.... drinks pricey. While the location is good for Capital Hill, there really isn't any other restaurants close... Union station is a 7 minute walk... for a women alone... not so good.

Anyway, this is the 2nd time I've stayed here. For the money, it's good (especially considering the location) for business. Would I stay there on vacation?... probably not.

“Good for Business Meetings”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

Pros: good location (close to airport) and good meeting accommodations; catered food was excellent; restaurant had good service and food quality. Room was clean and bed was comfortable.

Cons: actual hotel room/service did not justify cost. In addition to the premium you will pay for the location, the hotel charges guests for wifi ($10) and bottle of water ($14). The phone on the nightstand was inoperative; I was asked to wait 20 min for guest services to provide me with a bottle of water (no drinks provided in room); the shower head was inoperative resulting in 20% water pressure; toilet was ill positioned (literally two inches from the adjoining wall, no joke see my photo); bathroom was ice cold (no heat).

The hotel was fine for one night's stay, but if my business meeting was not being held at this hotel I would have opted to stay elsewhere. Certainly would not stay here for personal travel.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 520-530 (I can't remember my actual room number). Shower does not work.

“You pay for the good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013 via mobile

Between the Capitol and Union Station, the location of the Hyatt is great for a conference with meetings on the hill. Rooms are typical of city convention hotels. Basics are fine although the thermostat in my room was not functioning predictably. Confusing layout between two buildings. Very pricey bar and restaurant but good options nearby -- West End Cafe (bargain), Bistro Bis (gourmet elegant) and the restaurant in the Liaison Hotel across the street (pricy and delicious). Hotel good pricey & not memorable.

“Average Experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

Pros: Clean hotel; nice rooms and comfortable beds.

Cons: Not many restaurants/cheap eats around the hotel and the hotel food pricing is very expensive; hotel phone charges are outrageous-charged me for a call I did not make and would not refund the amount; charged me to watch music videos - no free TV!

Would not stay here again.
