“Great Holiday Inn in Georgetown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2008

This hotel is better than your average Holiday Inn. Our room was spacious with a good king bed. Restaurant for breakfast was excellent. Facilities are good and staff is very helpful, especially for a city. The location in Georgetown is good although not right in the center of things. I would have preferred to stay closer to M St. but we did find 2 good restaurants for dinner within walking distance of the hotel.

  • Liked — High quality of hotel - room and check in area
  • Disliked — Distance from center of Georgetown

The free breakfast with three people in our room was only for one person and I was double charged for parking. Cash upon arival then added to my bill, My word against the clerks who had no memory of the twenty dollar bill he asked for the night before. We were cheated and there was no manager to complain to about the double charge.

The only reason the stay wasn't too bad was the fact that I already had very low expectations. I went to DC on business, and as it coincided with the visit from a more famous personality who lives in the Vatican, hotels were hard to come by. I got dumped by my travel agent into the Holiday Inn, which is a good mile north of Georgetown, and was greeted by an expensive and tired hotel, in bad need of a revamp. I didn't like anything, but was particularly unhappy about the lousy breakfast. I can not recommend and certainly will not return.

This hotel is very dirty. It is in dire need of updating and staff that understand the meaning of customer service. The restaurant closes at 2 pm and doesn't open again until the evening. The tub was chipped, food on the floor when we checked in and the room was in general just gross. The only good thing about was the shuttle service......of course they are a separate company. You can find a better bargain.

This hotel looks a little dated judging from outside, but the lobby is bright and the room I stayted is OK and clean. I paid $204 (including tax) for a weekeday stay, and came here because the Marriott that I was attending the conference in is fully booked. Other Marriotts nearby are charging nearly $300 for a weekday stay...

I must say that I was a litle apprehensive about coming to this hotel after reading several negative reviews, particularly the comments about the rooms being dirty. I think those comments must have been written before the hotel was remodeled. My room's bathroom is clean and very bright. I checked out the bathtub joints, and they are new and clean. The room decor is too dark for my taste (dark green acarpet, dark blue flowery bed cover, and brown furnitures) and the room lights could use higher wattage. Check out their website - the photo of the guest room is what I got, except that the lights in the room is dimmer.

The staff I met was friendly. My company had to called ahead to change my reservation from two nights to one night, and there was no problem. All in all, this hotels offers a good price for visiting Georgetown, and most importantly for me, the bathroom is new, clean, and bright.

  • Liked — Clean bathroom
  • Disliked — Lights too dim; decor too dark

I ended up at the holiday inn georgetown from priceline. A $55 bid worked on the weekend. I wouldn't of liked to pay more than I did. The hotel didn't really seem 3 star quality. The room is quite old and must of been musty because it bothered my asthma and allergies. The bathroom door had a dent it. The decor was quite old and the mattress seemed a bit lumpy. The pillows on the bed were quite bad.

Parking at the hotel cost $20. You can park on side streets on the weekend because the D.C. zone system is not enforced on the weekend.

The walls were very thin. We heard doors slam from other rooms often. The wireless didn't work, but we were provided with an ethernet cord. Their was no charge for internet a real perk these days.

The hotel seemed to also have many school groups. Around 2 or 3 am in the morning I was awoken my loud children.
