“fine for one night”

Similar bed experience as DrYael but realized it wasn't worth the hassle of changing room for one night so didn't bother complaining. Did request a blanket for sofabed which when eventually arrived was a sheet!
Good things - clean and tidy, great location. Make sure you know what you are getting :-))

We booked this hotel throug one of the major booking sites. We booked 2 nights in July for 4 adults (2 parents, 2 teens) and asked for 2 double beds.
Our booking was confirmed.
As we arrived at the hotel, the receptionist found our booking and told me that though we requested 2 double beds , its just a request and they're not obliged to comply with this request (and said something about the fact that we didn't make the booking directly with them, but through the booking site...).
The room we got had one king bed and a sofa. We told the receptionist that's not what we asked for, but his reply was that he can't give us a different room.
When the sofa was opened and made by the houskeeping staff, we found out that it is way too small for 2 people and when we tried to lay on it, we discovered it was very very uncomfortable. the mattress folded inside and the head was lower than the legs...
We finally took the mattress off and slept for 2 nights on the floor.
Other than that, upon arrival to the room we found out that we didn't get enough towels (ordered a room for 4 and got towels for 2).
Later in the evening we also found out that the toilet wasn't flushing well. When we tried to call "at your service" (at 10pm) there was no reply so we had to wait until the morning to call them. In the morning a plumber came and worked for some time until he got it fixed (we went for breakfast at that time).
The only good thing we can say about this hotel is that it's located in a great place for touring downtown DC.

drYael -

Thank you for your review on TripAdvisor. I am so sorry for read of your experience from July 4th weekend. Please allow me to address your main concern regarding the reservation. While the 3rd party travel websites are great for locating deals and finding information, I would recommend always booking directly or at least verifying directly with the hotel for specific room types and other requests. Our Associates are best trained to assist you to insure you receive exactly what you're expecting at arrival. On Marriott.com, we are pleased to confirm your booking by room type (king, double/double) and we always have our Look No Further guarantee which guarantees you the best available rate at the time of booking. For the other items you mentioned, please note that I am personally researching and will address appropriately. If you have any additional questions or would like to provide additional feedback, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at 202-737-2200.

I Stay at Marriott's almost exclusively. The room is nice, but it's loud by the elevators and ice machine. I haven't had this problem staying at other Marriott's close to the elevators and ice machines. $42/day for parking is outrageous! And another $13/day for basic internet. Come on! This isn't 15 years ago when the internet was just emerging! I won't be coming back. The location isn't worth the cost!

A great hotel in an awesome location. This really is in the center of everything. White house is 10 min walk. Chinatown is 5 mins. And Gallery place metro in chinatown will take you anywhere in DC.

The Hotel itself was very neat and tidy. Pool was a bit crowded. Decent Gym. I would stay here again. For a bit more money, Renaissance which is two blocks away will be a great upgrade.

As a first time visitor to Washington D.C. on my way to the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference, we booked in online at the Marriot, both of its great location close to the Washington E convention Center, and its location close to all the monuments and the National Mall. We had great service from the staff, even after picking up a discrepancy on the invoice. All our travels were done by subway, and the Metro subway station is right next to the hotel, making lifts to and from the hotel to historical sites and business hubs very easy.

Very friendly and professional staff.

Location is definitely a great factor this hotel. Brought my family here while I attended a conference and it was very easy for them to get around. The metro is within a block. Food and some sights are also within walking distance. The rooms are nice and comfortable. Promos with king beds have a pull out sofa. Great people and great service.

Great location. Take Blue Metro from Reagan Airport, look for the Macy's sign to know what exit. Within two blocks of the White House, Within two block of Ford Museum - where Lincoln was shot (free - just need to get tickets at the window). which is a block from the Spy Museum. What is nice is being right next to the Metro you can get to any attraction - Zoo, National Mall, Capital, etc... quickly. Plus our two favorite restaurants Capital City Brewery a half a block up and Matchstick pizza 4 blocks towards Chinatown. For breakfast, two block up and one block left to get to McDonald's. Also remember to bring swimsuit. Nice pool and workout area. Nice beds and staff.

Room Tip: We normally stay on 11th floor.
