“GREAT value - all the amenities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Pleasently surprised by this little hotel. They have ALL the amenities, including FREE wireless internet, coffee maker in room, hair dryer, Bath and Body Works shampoo, soaps, lotion, and iron and ironing board, and bathrobe - all for GREAT low price. Location is ok, but will be getting better as the area around 10th and Mass just keeps getting upgraded.

Room Tip: Quieter on back side of hotel.

We arrived Aug. 30 and checked out on Sep 1. Beautifully-decorated accommodations were very clean, comfortable and well-staffed. Room service breakfasts, coffee from the bar on Saturday evening and lunch on Sunday were all promptly served and excellent in quality. Would definitely stay there again.

Good stay in Washigton, good location and clean hstorical hotel.
Good service and clean room.
The hotel is close to the White House and to the main spots in Washington DC.
I suggest it for couples and families.

This place had such charm. The bar scene was kind of lame, but we don't book hotels based on the bar. The rooms were fully stocked. They were small but it was what I expected for an old hotel. It was extremely clean and quiet. I wish it was closer to the metro. I would love to come back but next time I stay in DC I will select a hotel that is only a block or two from a Metro Station.

The building and room we had was beautiful and full of heritage character... Location was great, within walking distance to main parts of the City...housekeeping was tidy. However the customer service was terrible, I felt like a lepar from all the staff, and did not feel very welcome. We were in a room on the third floor and the noise was unbearable. There's an air conditioner either from the corridor or the next room and all we could hear all night was this ultra loud humming of the vent and could not sleep properly. When we asked for ear plugs and told them about the noise, they just didn't care.

My sister came up to D.C. for a visit while I was studying there, and we couldn't have picked better accommodations. The staff were helpful from beginning to end, from the doorman who helped us with our luggage, to the cleaning staff who left us complimentary bottles of water every night. The hotel is elegant and quaint, and has everything you would need for a comfortable stay. We would happily stay here again!

A short vacation in August had me visiting Washington DC for the first time. Choosing a location that was reasonably close to 'the sites' yet not part of the big business hassle that comes along with the larger hotels was the reason for selecting this location.
Not an overly large hotel but the facilities needed, bed, food etc were there. I was pleasantly surprised that my room was available so early in the day have flown overnight to get to the States and i checked in just before midday. The interior of the hotel and the rooms reminded me of English hotels in rural towns, almost a Fawlty Towers perception, less the crazy owner!
The staff were all helpful and polite and one couldn't get lost in the building, although discerning where breakfast was on the first day was challenging.
I ate one evening meal at the bar in the hotel which was very good. All other meals were exterior to the hotel and all within walking distance, literally one or two blocks.
Overall, despite the construction works over the road, which actually didn't affect my sleep whatsoever, I was very pleased with the choice of the hotel.
