Grand Hyatt in D.C. is a very, very nice hotel in an excellent location. They staff was very helpful, polite and informative. I went with my husband for his work. While he was at work, i visited many parts of the Smithsoinias, with the help of the conseigner at the Hyatt. The room was pleasant and quite big. Would definitely stay again. The metro is steps outside the hotel and will take you throughout the city. thanks Hyatt....JM

Typical chain--somewhat tired in decor and amenities. I would say the service wasn't very good except that no service existed. Food trays left in halls for 24 hours. Inattentive front desk staff but pleasant enough once you got their attention.
Positives--1. good location for meetings at convention center. 2. nice quick breakfast cafe and outstanding breakfast buffet in restaurant. 3. very comfortable beds.
Negatives--1. walk from elevator to room of approximately two city blocks. 2. Inadequate room lighting--including dark shower area. 4. late or missed wake up calls. 5. annoying journey from turning on tv to actually getting a live station. 5. mistakes on bill 6. overall just average at way above average prices. 7. Terrible ac system.

We stayed in Room 730 May 5 -8. On arrival, we had a small problem with our room. I mentioned it to a staff member. Within 15 minutes, we had two visits from the engineering department and a call from the head engineer to see if everything was all right or if we wanted to change rooms. Within the hour, a Senior Manager called to see if we were satisfied and if there was anything else to be done. Then they delivered us free fruit to apologize for our inconvenience! I'm not telling anyone to complain to get something for free. We were astounded by the attention we received. Staff through management were very responsive. It was like this throughout our stay from checkin through checkout. We had a wonderful experinece. All hotels should treat their guests like this. Thank you so much. We will definitely join you again.

Stayed there for just one night on a saturday and it was an absolute treat. We actually live in VA at a distance of hardly 40 minutes drive but decided to stay in DC that Saturday for multiple reasons. First, wanted to get away from home to relax, reconnect and get romantic; second, one of our friends was throwing a graduation party at a club in DC, and last, I had a 5K run early on Sunday morning. :-)
We had heard a lot of good things about this hotel so we decided to try it and all I can say is WOW! Even though it is rated at 3&1/2 stars it is almost 5 star quality. The whole experience was great ... as soon as we walked in we were awestuck with the atrium area, absolutely gorgeous. The check-in staff was extremely friendly and courteous. Right at the check-in they gave us a late checkout since I mentioned that I was going to run the 5K the next morning (extremely nice of them). We got a room on the 8th floor with a street view (in retrospect we should've ask for the atrium view, next time). Rooms were quite big for DC standards (compared to the other hotels that we have stayed at in DC) and very comfortable.
The best part was that we were given a complementary bottle of champagne which I think was because I mentioned that this was a romantic outing for me and my wife. Such small details do make a particular hotel special. Most certainly this is going to be our hotel of choice in DC.

Room Tip: Ask for the atrium view, it is breathtaking!

Beautiful hotel with a great sports bar, Starbucks, and large breakfast buffet. What more can one ask for! :)
Rooms were clean and spacious and beds were very comfortable. It has an open atrium type design which reminded me of Embassy Suites, although the rooms were standard design.
Walking distance to many attractions.
Several decent bars, restaurants, and retail stores within 4 blocks of the hotel.
Pool and fitness club are located in a health club adjacent to the hotel for a fee.

Negatives: I had to walk 20 minutes to find a pharmacy and/or grocery store to pick up some traveling supplies. (front desk staff was very helpful with directions as my GPS was completely incorrect)
Not really safe to walk around the city at night unless you are with group or are "tough looking". The city has what I would call an "aggressive" homeless population that ask (demand) money.

All in all, a great hotel in a great location.

This hotel has everything going for it. Great Location, Great Service, Large, well appointed rooms- My personal prefernce s for a smaller "boutique" hotel. I was attending a conference and this was pre booked by corporate. If you are looking for a room with a view of DC at this hotel- dont. No rooms that have a view of anything good. If you like large busy hotels this is a great choice!
