We stayed here 4 nights with our 2 kids ages 8 and 11 based on reviews from this forum. The room was fine - clean, well kept, flat screen TVs - but we were disappointed that it only had one bathroom and not even a powder room.
Since we were from the west coast we went to bed 2am local time but the clock alarm buzzed us awake at 6am and I had trouble falling back asleep. Someone had set the alarm and the housekeeper obviously hadnt gone thru her checklist. This was further confirmed later by missing items like the coffee bags for the coffeemaker. I left a message to the head housekeeper but didnt get an apology or any response.
The location was ok but with 100 degree heat we needed to take a cab to most of the places and with a family of 4 it generally ran $15 - $20 each way with tip.
The pool was nice for the kids but it really isnt for adults given the small size and 4 ft max depth. During peak hours it got very crowded without a chair to sit on.
The breakfast omlettes were nice but there was usually a long line for this and the other items were weak. There was almost no fresh fruit.
The first night we arrived late and we went to the onsite Italian restaurant Nicola's - it was one of the worst we've tried in recent memory. The fettucini alfredo was overcook pasta and bland, sauce, my ribeye steak was a third of an inch thick and cooked thru, even simple items like the pizza was doughy and soggy. Trying to think of positives - my recommended Napa merlot was good and we enjoyed the calamari. We ate out every night after that.
Given that we paid close to $400 a night on average we difinitely expected a more refined well run hotel. We still had a good trip but I think on our next visit we may pay a bit more and try out the Ritz or the Four Seasons.
