“Killer Staff / Good Hotel / Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

As a well seasoned traveler, I tend to stay at the larger hotel chains and Hlton properties specifically - not only for the HHonors benefits but also because of the value for the $$. This hotel specifically has a well above average staff that generally bends over backwards to help its guests.

Dear David S -

Thank you for staying with us and we appreciate both your comments and your patience while you were with us. Working through this extensive a renovation is a challenge and we appreciate our guests that have stayed and we look forward to having you back with us when we are complete.

We have removed most of the construction walls now in preparation for the opening of our lobby in 10 days and our Cafe work is progressing quickly to open at the same time. We have two floors complete with a third coming online by the 14th giving us only renovated suites for our guests.

We look forward to having you back with us soon and thank you for staying with us.

Our family vacation to Washington DC in June 2014 was wonderful all around, and this hotel was a big part of it. It's so convenient - right above a Metro station, with shopping/restaurants all around. A little far from downtown by taxi (about $25-$30 from Union Station). But Metro is the way to go. The room was big and clean. They didn't have the room type we wanted, but they went out of their way to "make it right" by sending us a note and giving us some freebies. I want to particularly call out team member Emily who was very kind. The breakfast/happy hour area was very nice, open, clean. All the staff were very friendly. My only complaint would be the pool area - not the greatest, and hard to find towels. I hear they are going through renovations now, which will only make it better. I highly recommend this hotel for any trip to DC.

Room Tip: Any room is fine - all are convenient.

My family and I stayed at Embassy Suites on a visit to DC. We left within twelve hours of check in and would've left earlier had we not had 4 children with us. The rooms are a massive hygienic challenge; the carpet filthy, the beds have bugs, and the stench is quite phenomenal. To add to it, they were remodelling at the time and the noise and dust was phenomenal. The website however, shows quite lovely and clean rooms. A direct misrepresentation of the reality we experienced. Avoid at all costs.

Dear Hind W -

Thank you for sharing your comments with us. Our team has worked very hard to limit the impact of our major remodeling but I understand that these measures don't work for all guests or families. I know that we have assisted with the relocation of several guests during the renovation and I am sorry that the work, and our actions, forced a change in your plans.

I hope that you will give us another chance when we are complete with our upgrades in just a few weeks and am confident that all of your expectations for experience and comfort will be met. Thank you.

The hotel is conveniently located in the DC area and has a Metro station at the base of the property. The hotel is currently being renovated and that proved to be a big distraction. The construction noise started prior to 7 in the am and went throughout the day.

Dear Colin F -

Thank you for staying with us and sharing your comments. We appreciate your patience as we improve our property from top to bottom. I also want to apologize if we started prior to our scheduled start time of 9:00am daily. We have worked consistently with our team to honor quiet hours and work from 9:00am - 6:00pm daily and in instances where this has not happened the offending teams have been shut down and in some cases, asked to leave. I am sorry that this negatively impacted your visit and apologize that we were not consistent on delivering what we promised.

I hope that you will give us another chance as we will be complete with our work very soon and would appreciate having you with us again. Thank you for staying and sharing your experience as it makes us better and is appreciated.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites Chevy Chase Pavilion two years ago in August 2012. At that time the hotel was undergoing some minor renovations. It was pretty inconvenient, what with waking up to the sounds of construction at 9:00 am and all. But the location was perfect for us and the rooms work for traveling with kids. So, two years later, we figured we would try it again. Let it suffice to say that the hotel definitely downplays the extent of the inconvenience caused by the renovations. It is Sunday morning, and we just woke up to the sound of a jackhammer at 9:30 am. Seriously, Embassy Suites? Navigating the ever-changing maze around the hotel has been interesting -- beginning with finding our way in as our taxi could not pull up to the hotel. Many thanks to the staff as they are clearly working overtime to make the situation as workable as possible. But it is still barely working. I will definitely be checking trip advisor before taking another chance on this hotel. This is pretty ridiculous. The rooms are a decent size, but the bathrooms are tiny. Still good for family travel, but not if your family likes to sleep in on Sundays.

Room Tip: The executive suites are substantially larger if you can get one.
